Money Magazine ranked Belvedere as one of the top 10 places to live in the world, and this home exemplifies the reasons why.
Beau Rivage is a spectacular water-front brick and stone cottage with private boat dock, beach access and expansive Tiburon, Corinthian, Angel Island and San Francisco Bay Bridge views. It is located on one of the most desirable streets in Belvedere, is furnished with professionally-decorated interiors, high ceilings, unique craftsmanship, multiple decks and lush gardens. The sounds of the tide mix with magnificent views from every window to provide a sense of true serenity.
A great place for healthy exercise, it is a short walk to the San Francisco Yacht Club; a pleasant walk to Tiburon's historic village and the Corinthian Yacht Club; fabulous walking and running routes around Belvedere and the Tiburon bike path that encircles the Bay. The ferry landing is located in Tiburon as well, and takes you to Sausalito, Angel Island and San Francisco in just minutes.
While the home can sleep a family of 6-8 comfortably, its configuration as three master suites makes it perfect for couples on holiday or a family with older children. The upstairs Bay Bedroom consists of bedroom with fireplace, flat screen television and magnificent views and sounds of the tides on the beach below. It shares a bath/shower with a second Garden Bedroom tucked into the ancient avocado tree and hydrangea hillside.
The downstairs master suite has sitting area, elevated bed, bath, laundry room and wine cellar; the hallway opens onto the decks that lead to the dock below.
The third suite is beneath the garage, and includes a two level bedroom/sitting area and a bath on the second floor below. The suite includes a partners' desk with laptop and printer, sofa bed and sitting area overlooking the Bay through the treetops.
WiFi is included as are cable and free international phone throughout.
Belvedere is a short drive from the Golden Gate and is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It is a lovely 20-30 minute drive to Muir Woods or the Marin Headlands where it is perfection to watch surfers and sea lions taking in the last slip of sun on the Pacific, or a great day's worth of walking and hiking along the Pacific. Less than an hour to the California Wine Country, jaunts to wineries, biking or dinner at some of the best restaurants in the country make great day-trip or weekend outings. Carmel and Monterey make a great weekend trip as does the northern coast to Mendicino.
People who have lived all over the world, come back to Belvedere saying that no place can beat its beauty and comfort; and Beau Rivage is quintessentially Belvedere at its best.

We love the quiet privacy of this spot, the morning sun welcomes the day through the bedroom windows; the evening twilight shines along Raccoon Straights and Angel Island with illuminating colors that bring peace to the end of the day; and the moon shines across the water as we listen to the sounds of the surf below.
The home is incomparable when you love comfort and quality of life looking out onto beauty from every window. We look less for grand spaces and marble this-and-that than we do for unique experiences and an authentic style that creates comfort and memories.
We walk to town for dinner at one of the charming bistros and a movie at what feels like a private theatre, or we often cook just outside the living room and kitchen with fresh produce and seafood from the local farmer's market or the local Belvedere market, and entertain friends at a family table overlooking the Bay. We lounge on the dock for breakfast or lunch (often both) soaking in the sounds and sensations of one of the most beautiful places in the world from a picnic basket we 'pack' to carry the news, books and snacks down the stairs to the dock's comfortable seating.
The moment we walked into the home, we knew it was meant for us. Every window has a view of gardens or the Bay. Rough hewn beams, cathedral dining room ceiling, cozy Cotswold kitchen and corner copper-hooded fireplace are European cottage craftsmanship at its best.
We love to sit in 'the look out' off our living room to watch the sailing races and the constant sea and bird life (we've even seen wales in our cove during their migration season in the Spring). The curving stone and brickwork walkway surround a small outdoor patio off the kitchen and living room where we smoke salmon or barbeque almost year-round.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of this home is its sense of privacy and tranquility every season of the year. Spring, Summer and Fall are filled with sailing and sea life; winter is a time to enjoy one of the most cozy places anywhere, and yet we still take walks along the beach and into town. In fact, we light the fire almost every night (gas fireplaces make this easy), enjoying its warmth in the cool Bay Area 'sweater weather' evenings and the cheer it brings no matter the time of the year.
San Francisco is known for its hills, and our home is quintessentially Belvedere – it is a series of stairs! So if you like a little exercise, you will enjoy the steps to the front door, the steps to the dock, and the stairs that separate the upstairs and downstairs bedrooms from the main floor. We often walk to the grocery store in town and back again. There's a bike path that encircles the Bay that is fantastic for long walks, biking, a pleasant run or rollerblading. Get a kayak or Paddle Board for your stay and hop onto the Bay from our dock in the gorgeous morning or evening sun – or take a walk during low tide around the beach to see a glorious view of the San Francisco and Golden Gate skyline.
Belvedere is one of the most charming places in the U.S. It was once the summer home destination for wealthy San Franciscans because of its beautiful 'banana belt' weather. It is an island that was connected to the Tiburon peninsula, and is wonderful for walking along its winding roads and up its walk-street stairways. In low tide, we love walking along the shore which is accessed by a short ramp from our dock.
