Grospierres is wonderfully situated for activities: canoeing & kayaking are hugely popular and within a minute's drive on the River Ardeche, also offering swimming and beaches. The Gorges de l'Ardeche are just a few minutes' drive. Visit the Chauvet Cave in Vallon Pont d'Arc and see the oldest known paintings in the world. There are lovely country walks from the doorstep amid the vineyards and sunflowers. Grospierres offers a supermarket within 10 minutes walk as well as two excellent restaurants. A hypermarket can be found 10 minutes away in Ruoms. Fresh fruit and flowers are available from the roadside in season. There are colourful markets in St Ambroix, Les Vans and Barjac, to name but a few. The towns of Montelimar, Nimes, Ales, Uzes, Orange and Avignon are all within an easy drive.
You can also discover local mediaeval villages such as Balazuc, Vogue, Labaume, Banne and Vallon Pont d'Arc as well as outstanding caves and grottoes. The area is very popular for cyclists and walkers alike. This is a well-renowned wine producing area with several wine cellars within 2-3 kms.
