The property is a traditional Swabian farmhouse over four floors (including storage cellar), with a barn attached . It is situated in the heart of Neufra, a 700 year old hillside village of 1200 people and around the corner from the village inn (Gasthaus Rössle) which serves both German and Greek food. Although nearly 200 years old ,over the last four years it has been fully modernised to provide a warm , welcoming comfortable holiday home, fully equipped with satellite TV, video entertainment, books & games , in case you need a change from walks & rushing about. Outside there is a small patio area with grilling equipment, chairs & table. This converted farmhouse has lots of character features ,with some low and sloping ceilings, a few exposed beams, personalized decor and general quirkiness. The house provides either a quiet friendly getaway, or a base for excursions, including even the surrounding three countries. (France, Switzerland and Austria)

Further East lies Munich and picturesque Bavaria . Locally are a wealth of small historic walled towns - Villingen & Rottweil ; fairy castles, and a massive basilica in Alpirsbach . Triberg is famous for Germany's highest waterfall and cuckoo clocks, .and nearby is Germany's highest mountain outside the alps, , the Feldberg .Three rivers have their sources nearby -Danube, Neckar, Rhein.The Danube valley offers high cliffs and impressive walks . Lake Konstanz is very attractive at Meerseburg or Konstanz itself , and the flower island of Mainau . In Switzerland Schaffhausen boasts the wide Rheinfalls . North of Freiburg in the rhine valley is the excellent Europapark ,entertaining for all ages . The immediate area has indoor swimming spas in Rottweil and Bad Dürrheim , as well as the open air pool in Spaichingen.

  • The main bathroom has a shower instead of a bath, and the second bathroom belongs to the upstairs studio, with a separate toilet, and sink as part of the kitchen enclosure. There is a third toilet on the ground floor, handy for the garden.

Notes: The property is on three floors , townhouse style, with bedrooms on the second floor, and a self-contained studio in the loft. The house has been set up to be practical , friendly and comfortable , rather than luxurious . The diversity of electronic entertainment within the house and classical games, jigsaws, puzzles , books etc is such that one possibly doesn't need to go out , but that is hardly the point , with all the beautiful scenery around , and reasonable restaurants everywhere . Having lived in the area as foreigners (Brits) for twenty years we are still touristing , and are glad to provide our recommendations if required. Bicycles can be provided in Summer, if notice is given ( need to make sure they're safe !) Skiing: langlauf skiing can be done locally for free- I've been several times this winter . I can lend skis , but boots probably not. For downhill skiing only a few beginners slopes are available locally: but there i have loads of equipment.
