Situated on 1.3 acres of land on top of a mesa in Apple Valley, Utah (4400 feet above sea level), the Gooseberry Mesa lodge is a private, comfortable and relaxing getaway with a view that will keep you coming back. The main house has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6 comfortably, while the detached studio apartment above the garage has a king size bed to accommodate 2 more.
The main house includes a kitchen with stainless steel appliances including refrigerator, electric stove and oven, dishwasher, microwave oven, coffee maker, toaster, a complete set of pots and pans and dishes. There is a counter, bar with stools so your guests may watch you cook while they sit and chat and a large dinner table that sits 6-8. Eat dinner with family and friends while enjoying the view of the mountains. After dinner sit in the living area while watching television, or unwind in front of the fireplace during a cold winter night, or get together with your family and friends for a board game night. Or if you prefer to barbeque outdoors on the porch and later gather around a 'campfire' for some story telling and toast marshmallows instead.
The laundry closet stores a full washer and dryer. All three rooms in the main house have sliding doors that lead out to the enclosed garden where you can relax and watch the kids play in the little playhouse.
We love to spend most of our 'free' time hiking, exploring and mountain biking. We frequently escape to our 'Utah' house with our two kids for peace and quiet, and to enjoy outdoor activities this area has to offer. We would love to share this experience with you too.

We fell in love with the panoramic view of Zion NP and surrounding mountains during the day, and at night the sky is an endless blanket of stars.
Having lived in big cities all our lives, my husband and I love the peace and quiet this house offers and it's closeness to many National Parks.
We could not have asked for a better home base for our day hikes. The house met all our expectations, was comfortable and well stocked with items for us to make our dinners for 8.
Had a surprise 60th birthday party there for my husband. The lodge and loft accomodated my whole family. It was clean, comfortable and so much fun! Beautiful area in the center of all we wanted to do. As relaxing or active as you wanted to make it. My grandkids LOVED the playhouse and making smore's around a camp fire! Thank you for having such a fun getaway place! I will tell my friends and family what a fantastic place you have. Ruth R.
Great place to explore the Zion area, came with two families and the house was perfect for all of us.
If you're driving a 4WD vehicle highly recommend the back road into the national park, killer views.
Our family of 6 came for spring break. The cabin was perfect and well taken care of. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The owners even checked in with us to make sure everything was ok. Zion was close and there was plenty to do. The views were amazing!
There were 8 of us and the lodge was a warm and friendly environment with plenty of sleeping space. A location within easy access of Zion and a 4 wheel drive short cut surprise. We had a Toyota Sequoia so the short cut was a fun trip. We were first timers to the lodge and Utah. The Gooseberry Mesa Lodge exceeded all expectations. We even had a surprise snow storm on New Year's Eve. The neighbors are nice and we made friends with a neighborhood dog, some called her Snow Ball, others Aspen. She was quickly adopted by my group.
If you want a fantastic place to call home for a few days, this is the place! Fully accommodating lodge atmosphere with AMAZING views of the mesas that surround. Breakfast on the patio at dawn, and evenings by the campfire watching the stars, the lodge did not disappoint. We will definitely be returning next year for more Gooseberry adventures!
Gooseberry Mesa Lodge is a quiet, comfortable and relaxing getaway with panoramic views of Zion National Park, Gooseberry Mesa and the Smithsonian Butte. Far away from the crowd, you can watch wildlife from the porch, star gaze at night or build a fire and toast marshmallows with the kids.
This is a great location for family getaways and adventurers seeking a central base to explore the surrounding National Parks such as Zion, Bryce, North Rim of the Grand Canyon and Lake Powell, all within a day trip away. Many state parks and recreation areas are also close by. We are also within the immediate vicinity to world-class mountain biking trail systems such as Gooseberry Mesa, Little Creek Mesa and the JEM/Hurricane Rim Trails.
For the adventurous soul, head down the Smithsonian Butte Country Byway in your 4WD. Smithsonian Butte Back Country Byway is only 1.5 miles from the lodge and travels for 9 miles between Apple Valley on State Route 59 to Rockville on State Route 9. As the route winds down into the Valley of the Virgin River, you'll experience views of Zion Canyon, Canaan Mountain, the Vermillion Cliffs, and Zion National Park just four miles west. As you reach the highest points on the Byway, Zion's fiery landscaping, filled with buttes and temples, lays in panoramic glory at your feet.
