Awesome views of verdant hills out of each bay window and a feeling of open space out in the country, in Cornville, close to the land. The road from Hwy 89A (Sedona's main street) into Cornville has four signs that always make me smile-- 'Welcome to Cornville / A Quiet Place / Please Slow Down / To a Leisurely Pace.'

We were a family group of 12 who stayed over New Years. The house was very comfortable and there ere lots of areas in which to spread out. The kitchen was amazingly well equipped. As it was winter and unseasonably cold, we did not have much of a chance to make use of the outdoor spaces. Sedona is very convenient and an easy drive. The Yoga studio was a wonderful addition and a treat. Extremely well equipped! Johanna was very accommodating and promptly returned my deposit. The beds were comfortable and the whole house was very clean.
I stayed at the Contentment lodge for 4 nights as part of a retreat. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed. The outdoor spaces were perfectly manicured and inviting. The energy of the property was very soothing and positive. I experienced a lot of growth this week and I am sure the space had something to do with it. I look forward to coming back and staying at the Contentment lodge again soon!
I brought a group of 12 to stay at the Contentment Lodge for a five day retreat. The space was immaculate and exactly what we were looking for. If we had personally designed something for our group, it would have been just like this space! Every detail of the outside and inside makes it very clear that this was designed with love and spiritual intent. We felt truly blessed to be able to enjoy the space for this very special event. Much love to Johanna and also to Natalie for making our experience so wonderful! We hope to be back soon!
We rented the Contentment Lodge in July 2014 for three nights. In total, we had three families with ages ranging from grandparents to a twelve year old, 13 people total. We were in town for a nearby family union. The house was perfect for a big group. The home was extremely well equipped and there was nothing we came across that we missed- all the essentials were there. Cornville / Sedona area is fantastic and the lodge location was close to everything, but not to close. The name of the house is perfect. The Contentment Lodge was a great place to get away with the setting and views incredibly peaceful.
I stayed at the property for a workshop/retreat. I would recommend this location whether for a vacation to visit the Sedona area (while being not in the middle of town) or for a retreat. The home and the property were well-appointed, very clean and well maintained. The benches, outdoor tables and chairs invited evening meals on the back patio and meditation or watching the sunrise each morning. Our every need seemed to have been anticipated. There was always water available for tea, and the skylight in our bathroom added a spa-like feeling. Johanna also has a great library!
I attended a yoga retreat at the Contentment Lodge and it was perfect for our group of 10. The yoga room was new and spacious with nice wood flooring. The bedrooms are large and open windows let in the cool Sedona air at night. There was plenty of space for individual quiet both indoors and outdoors. Great place to watch the sunrise over the ridge and listen to the sounds of rural Sedona. Nicely quiet and away from the bustle of the city - beautiful stars. The owner has provided lots of interesting art and spiritual materials. The kitchen was wonderful and large enough for all. The outdoor furniture pieces are comfy and spread around so you can watch sunrise, or stay in the shade. Wonderful touches everywhere - it was PERFECT!
Nestled on a hill amid rolling fields of cactus, chaparral and juniper trees sits our Contentment Lodge on two acres. It is a cozy, exclusive setting in Cornville, AZ, just twenty-five minutes south of Sedona. Cornville, a little-known jewel of a community, is a lush southwestern greenbelt that offers the cool setting of award-winning wine vineyards and verdant ranch pastures, including the publicized ranch of Senator McCain.
Recognized as one of the most beautiful places in America by USA Today Weekend, Sedona is located in Arizona's high desert (4500 ft. above sea level) under the towering southwestern rim of the vast Colorado Plateau, the city of Sedona is blessed with four mild seasons marked by abundant sunshine and clean air. Ideally, the annual average high and low temperatures are 74.7 and 45.7 degrees, respectively.
Our intimate accommodations include four deluxe, large bedrooms with scenic views and a wonderful six-jet Jacuzzi bathtub. Our comfortable beds all have new mattresses, pillows and linens and soft cotton blankets and comforters. The Lodge has two new hi-dimension televisions, plus video and DVD recorders, a video/DVD library, and two stereos. All of the rooms in the Lodge have wi-fi connection.
Indoors, there is also a large oak-floor yoga studio or meeting room with French doors and brass statues and batiks of Hindu deities. The yoga studio can serve as a meeting or exercise room. It has 22 new back-jack seats, a trampoline and an exercise bicycle, an overhead projector, and several dry erase boards for note-taking during workshops.
The very cozy living room, with an electric fireplace, and the spacious dining area are decorated with touches of Egyptian art. The lodge is comfortably heated by propane or cooled by air conditioning. The kitchen is fully stocked with service for more than twelve, toaster oven, microwave, gas stove, a deluxe Jenn-Air dishwasher and appliances, plus a hi-efficiency clothes washer and dryer in the laundry room.
The house has a roofed patio for outdoor breakfast, several seating areas with luxurious lawn furniture, a small and large barbecue grill and a screened-in canopy pagoda for relaxing or sleeping outdoors. We can provide two futons for the gazebo to accommodate anyone who likes to sleep outdoors. On our two-acre grounds, there is a stone Native American medicine wheel, a semi-circle Ganesha arbor of blue spruce trees with curved concrete benches overlooking awesome views, a goddess fountain cascading down the mountain behind the lodge, and a direct view of sacred Sugarloaf Mountain.
Our lodge in Cornville, sits on a mountain hill across from the restricted Sugarloaf Mountain, protected Native American burial grounds. We honor the Native Americans by respecting that it is a legally restricted area and urging our guests to honor this and enjoy being near the mountain without going there. We mention this because the lodge is blessed by being directly across the street from Sugarloaf Mountain. We have meditation benches 3/4 up our mountain, that provide a perfect setting to view the stars (unobstructed by traffic lights) and feel the energy of the adjacent sacred mountain.
We chose to live in Cornville, for this serene mellow energy after having lived for years in the stirring energy of Sedona. You will find that after visiting Sedona's sites, it's wonderful to go home to your two-acre soothing energy site, and the short trip is only a 25-minute drive on three paved roads, a very easy and worthwhile commute.
Cornville is the home of award-winning wineries that offer tasting rooms, awesome Montezuma's Well and Castle and a variety of cozy gourmet restaurants. The Contentment Lodge is 15 minutes from the movies, restaurants and grocery and department stores to the south in Cottonwood. Also nearby to the south is Jerome, a former mining town on a mountain that is now a funky artist community with interesting shops and unique fun restaurants like the Haunted Mansion and the Asylum.
Sedona is in the top ten sites voted the most wonderful to visit. It offers many different red rock vortex sites, known to have mystical healing energy, and Slide Rock Water Park, a place to splash and have fun. The area has magnificent golf courses, horseback-riding, hot-air ballooning, river kyacking, rafting and tubing, and spas offering pampering delights.
So many fun things to do in and around Cornville and Sedona! Enjoy wine-tasting in award-winning local vineyards, fine dining in a variety of gourmet restaurants, historic Montezuma's Well and Castle, fun shopping in the nearby artistic town of Jerome, uplifting hiking/ biking trails amid magnificent red rock vortex vistas, and golfing at the most spectacular golf courses in the world!
