Our luxury architect-designed villa offers the independent traveller all the amenities for a comfortable and relaxing self-catering holiday in tranquil spacious surroundings: • Light airy open plan lounge and dining area, DVD/CD player, air-conditioning. Living area extended by large wrap around balcony. • 1 double & 1 twin bedded bedroom, both with full air-conditioning, main bedroom en-suite. • Modern kitchen, with microwave, oven, hob, extractor, dishwasher, washing machine, and fridge/freezer. • Separate bathroom and shower room. • Secluded balconies and private roof sun terrace with spectacular sea and mountain views. • Balcony overlooking the shared floodlit 20 metre swimming pool. • Private garden with sunbeds (beds are also available around the pool) • Shady car parking space within the gated complex. • Bed linen and towels are provided and are changed twice weekly.

Makrigialos occupies its own bay in South East Crete, along a coastline of secluded coves and quiet easy-to-get-to fine beaches. With its picturesque harbour and promenade, waterside tavernas, restaurants and cafes, the village is lively but still unspoiled. Its beautiful bay, long sandy beach and crystal clear water are matched by the friendly local hospitality. Makrigialos was once a tiny fishing village but is now an established popular resort due to the friendly local hospitality, with visitors returning year after year. 'Makrigialos' means 'long beach', and here you will find a long sandy beach with crystal clear, shallow waters, which is perfect for children. The beach is lined with a good variety of tavernas to suit all tastes. Nearby attractions include the gorges of Pefki, Dasaki and Pevrolakia, water-park at Ierapetra, day boat trip to nearby Lefki island, wine-tasting at the Kaspa monastery and traditional Cretan evenings in Pefki.

Notes: Access to the middle floor and to roof terrace, with separate wc, is via a large spiral staircase so may not be suitable for wheelchair users. The modern kitchen includes dishwasher, washing machine, oven, hob, extractor and fridge/freezer. The living area is extended on both sides by private balconies front and rear accessed from the middle floor. Balconiy also overlooks the floodlit 20 metre swimming pool. There is also a large private roof sun-terrace where you can enjoy the late evening sunshine and spectacular views over Makrigialos Bay or towards the mountains. Our villa has its own private garden with sunbeds (beds are also avaliable around the pool), and there is an allocated shaded car parking space within the gated complex. Bed linen and towels are provided and are changed twice weekly.

We had a lovely week here in mid Sept 09. The villa itself was spotless when we arrived and we were given a very warm welcome - even a few beers and a bottle of wine in the fridge. Our daughter was well catered for as they provided a high chair and travel cot. The only downside was the stairs in the villa look very cool and trendy but they are a bit of a nightmare with young children. The people onsite did try to battle this by putting plastic sheets around the top of the staircase which did help but at the bottom step (which is in the kitchen / living room) we had to lay a chair on its side on put chairs against this so our daughter could not access the stairs.

Overall our holiday was wonderful. The beach is lovely, the swimming pool onsite is lovely and one of the cleanest pools I have ever swam in. The weather was also beautiful. It's a great place to go and just relax!
Owner's Response: We are pleased with this positive review. Adventurous children between 10 and 18 months will always find a spiral staircase interesting. The child gates at the bottom and top of the stairs are appropriate for most parents' needs. No doubt next year will be a different story!
