The Kite Festival: A very special kite festival has taken place in San Vito Lo Capo for three years. It is a unique event in its genre, an exciting show in which the limpid sea and the wonderful sandy beach of San Vito blend the colorful sky creating a suggestive scenery. Artists from all over the world meet here and perform their “soft-kites” in free flights, acrobatic exhibitions and in the famous Japanese fights of “Rokkaku”. It is a performance which joins together creativity, play and nature contact. Don’t miss it! Next edition will be from 23 to 27 May 2012.
The Natural reserve of 'Zingaro':: The Zingaro Nature Reserve, (Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro), is a protected area spread along a spectacular section of coast on the eastern side of the gulf, Golfo di Castellamare, where high rock walls, diving into the blue below, alternate with coves opening gently into the sea.It spreads out 1700 hectares from Castellammare del Golfo to San vito Lo Capo. Its coast is over 8 kms and it has many quite beaches and limpid waters. The Riserva dello Zingaro can be crossed only on foot along three different itineraries, allowing enjoyment of one of the most pristine environments of the Mediterranean and sightings of the numerous animal species living in the reserve. Thirty-nine species of birds nest in this area, including peregrine falcons, Bonelli's eagles, buzzards, Eurasian kestrels, barn owls, and tawny owls … all in an environment rich in endemic plants typical of Mediterranean flora. Inside the reserve are the Museo Naturalistico (Naturalist Museum), Museo.
Cous Cous fest in September: Expert hands move swiftly, skilfully and imaginatively to create dishes rich in flavour and tradition. Cous cous is a blend of brans and a blend of cultures, a great excuse to invite the greatest chefs of the world in San Vito Lo Capo for an appetising competition for the Best Cous Cous award. The prestigious title will be awarded by an international panel of reporters, opinion makers and experts from the fields of travel and enogastronomy.
A blend of histories and cultures, cous cous is a ritual that brings four continents together. Peoples of completely different origins - not only geographically speaking - come together in San Vito Lo Capo, where gastronomic tradition and hospitality meet history and religious ritual, overcoming diversity and welcoming their differences.
