The Kite Festival: A very special kite festival has taken place in San Vito Lo Capo for three years. It is a unique event in its genre, an exciting show in which the limpid sea and the wonderful sandy beach of San Vito blend the colorful sky creating a suggestive scenery. Artists from all over the world meet here and perform their “soft-kites” in free flights, acrobatic exhibitions and in the famous Japanese fights of “Rokkaku”. It is a performance which joins together creativity, play and nature contact. Don’t miss it! Next edition will be from 23 to 27 May 2012.

The Natural reserve of 'Zingaro':: The Zingaro Nature Reserve, (Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro), is a protected area spread along a spectacular section of coast on the eastern side of the gulf, Golfo di Castellamare, where high rock walls, diving into the blue below, alternate with coves opening gently into the sea.It spreads out 1700 hectares from Castellammare del Golfo to San vito Lo Capo. Its coast is over 8 kms and it has many quite beaches and limpid waters. The Riserva dello Zingaro can be crossed only on foot along three different itineraries, allowing enjoyment of one of the most pristine environments of the Mediterranean and sightings of the numerous animal species living in the reserve. Thirty-nine species of birds nest in this area, including peregrine falcons, Bonelli's eagles, buzzards, Eurasian kestrels, barn owls, and tawny owls … all in an environment rich in endemic plants typical of Mediterranean flora. Inside the reserve are the Museo Naturalistico (Naturalist Museum), Museo.

Cous Cous fest in September: Expert hands move swiftly, skilfully and imaginatively to create dishes rich in flavour and tradition. Cous cous is a blend of brans and a blend of cultures, a great excuse to invite the greatest chefs of the world in San Vito Lo Capo for an appetising competition for the Best Cous Cous award. The prestigious title will be awarded by an international panel of reporters, opinion makers and experts from the fields of travel and enogastronomy.

A blend of histories and cultures, cous cous is a ritual that brings four continents together. Peoples of completely different origins - not only geographically speaking - come together in San Vito Lo Capo, where gastronomic tradition and hospitality meet history and religious ritual, overcoming diversity and welcoming their differences. Stands in the Cous Cous dal Mondo village and the Casa del Cous Cous sanvitese will feature the star of the show appearing in a host of different versions with meat, fish and vegetables!!!

UNFORGETABLE TIME

  • 4 of 5
We spent wonderful time in Casa Luna in June 2013. Just a glass of wine, book and time spent on the balcony with beatuifull view on the small gulf...that's something we were looking and which cannot be compared to packaged holidays. Jogging around this hills was challanging but also memorable. We recommend this place to everybody who is looking for peace and relax far from crowded and noicy hotels...get some wine and fresh fish and put it on grill and enjoy the view and silence...and you have to try canoli from San Vito...you will never forget.

Happy guest!

PERFECT HOUSE FOR RELAXING

  • 5 of 5
We loved the house very much, it was so quiet (the street is high above) there. The Patio is really huge and you have sun all day long. The room was very clean and the kitchen well equipped. The bathroom was ok. We lived in the lower apartment, above us there was another family, but we didn't hear anything from above.
The only negative think was the old mattress, our back hurts a bit after one week.
But nevertheless, we will rent this house again, when we travel to sicily! The perfect place for people, who enjoy nature and seclusion.

SAN VITO LO CAPO AUGUST 2010

  • 4 of 5
The listing description is accurate. The property is clean and equipped adequately for basic food preparation. There is a 4 burner hob top but no oven. There is no hot water tap in the kitchen but hot water can be carried from the bathroom for washing up. Clean sheets and towels are delivered each week. The house has good flyscreening (bring insect repellent, there are heaps of mosquitos) The bed in the second bedroom is a three quarter sized bed and a bit small for 2 adults (fine for 2 children)
The location is quiet and amazingly beautiful.
The owner was helpful and provided a good service.
We had a great holiday.
Our favourite restauant was Fico d'India located on the main road out of St Vito Lo Capo heading towards Trapani

REALLY NICE HOUSE

  • 4 of 5
We had a lovely time here. There was just the two of us and we appreciated the extra bedroom for siesta. The balcony is huge and has a lovely view of the sunrise and the gulf. The flat is small but well equipped with a BBQ outside. Water pressure is lowish and there is no oven. This didn't worry us. Take electronic mosquito vaporisers for the nights. You can buy coils etc in town. Everything was clean.

The house is midway betwen San Vito Lo Capo and the Zinguro national park. We went swimming in the park's nearest cove every morning. Really nice. Good snorkelling. We liked to promenade in the town in the evening and it has a lot of good restaraunts, bars etc and a supermarket, fish shop and vegetable shop all within a short drive.

There are lots of sites to visit in day. We liked Seggesta and Mozia the best. Mazarra Del Vallo has a lot of charm and an interesting Tunisian quarter (if you like backgammon and coffee houses as we do)

The support was there but not in any way intrusive. New bed linen and towels were delivered after the first week.

We were lucky in that the flat beneath was not occupied for most of our time there and when it was the occupants were freindly and quiet.

I can reccomend this house and we are thinking of going back again. Scicily is absolutely marvellous. A word to the wise: don't try and drive in Palermo if you are not used to it.

INSGESAMT EMPFEHLENSWERT

  • 4 of 5
Nachteile:

Thin white sand and emerald sea; above, the majestic flight of sea-gulls. A magical universe set between the Zingaro natural reserve and Mount Cofano, in a geographic alchemy which makes the Cape a place where one doesn't get to by chance: one has to look for it, and once found one falls in love with it. Something that has happened to many people. The colours of Africa: an attraction running through the narrow streets, among white, low houses, enshrined in the green of bougainvilleas. By the piers, the bulging sides of fishing boats rocking rhythmically to the whim of waves, while fishermen tell old sea stories whilst mending their nets. There are places with their own personality: San Vito Lo Capo is one of those places and its personality is rather complex, hovering between Maghreb and Europe. It is a mixture one can feel in the wind, when the CIALOME DEI TONNAROTI mix ideally with the call of the muezzin. The heat of the sun and the warmth of the people.
