The Lil House by the Sea has a warm funky atmosphere that is comfortable and fun. It is in the middle of the action only 1 block from the new PLEASURE PIER. The house sleeps 8... has 3 bedrooms and two full bathrooms, a tropical garden area with an outside shower, a large living area and fully stocked kitchen...including a commercial ice machine for filling the ice chest we provide. We have 2 flat screen TVs, DVD player and are wired with dish network and WIFI ....we remembered the lil things too, we have games, books, boogies boards, and tennis rackets. You can even write on our chalk board walls and leave notes in our vacation journal.
I am a widow and the mother of 5 children. A former retail manager, corporate auditor, ostrich farmer, marine biologist and cafe owner... I now own and manage the Lil House by the Sea. I am looking forward to this new venture and all the excitement and new friends it brings our way.
Elizabeth Wilson purchased this house in 2008
My Husband and I had talked about buying this house before he died and turning it into a cafe... since Robert's passing I couldn't travel anymore with my job at NOAA so it seemed the next logical move to make that dream a reality. After totally redoing the house to make it a parkside cafe we opened in January 2010. The family helped me run it and over the 2 1/2 yrs we were open we met many dear friends and neighbors. It however proved to be to much and we closed the cafe and low and behold ...the LIL HOUSE BY THE SEA was born. Heres to new adventures!
There are many unique benefits to our Lil House, location location location! 1 block to the beach and Pleasure Pier! Across the street from Galveston's Menard Park and Rec Center, which includes a first class skate park, tennis courts, a playground and a nicely equipped recreation center. All great places to mingle with locals and tourists alike!
We couldn't have asked for a better location for our weekend with friends! 3 couples slept perfectly. (Plus a couple of teenagers) The house was very clean and well equipped with the items you'll need for every day. We will definitely be staying here again and recommending it to our friends!
Thank you Elizabeth for having such a great place! The location, beach and pleasure pier all walking distance. the 7 year old twin grandsons thought we were the coolest having a skateboard park across the street! They were skateboarding at 7am! the chalk board walls were fantastic! wifi was fast, games were a plus, water pressure was to die for! Back patio area for morning coffee or glass of wine was great! Outdoor shower! all the needs were met! We will be back! Our neighbors who rented were jealous!
The house was just what we wanted for our weekend getaway with three kids (6, 8, & 11). We had an easy walk to the Pleasure Pier and restaurants for our first night. We hit the skate park right across the street first thing Saturday morning. And everything else we did on the island was an easy drive. The house was clean and well-stocked for all our needs. The kids loved the decor. We really weren't in the house much, but it is a great home base for enjoying Galveston. Check-in and check-out was easy, and we had no problems of any kind. We would come back again.
Took my Girl Scout troop here. The house is cute and well stocked. Walking distance to park, beach and pleasure pier. Owner is great to work with.
Beautiful, fun home! Amazing location to beach, skatepark, Pleasure Pier and Strand. Every amenity available for use in the home you need and homeowner is so kind and helpful!
Ok - this is the MOST fun rental I have EVER stayed in. The location is excellent....directly across from the community tennis courts and skate park, less than a full block from Seawall and beach, 1 block from surfboard rentals @ Ohana, a block from Pleasure Pier and if you cut across the park you can be ordering your burger from The Spot in under 5 minutes. The photos are accurate but still do not capture the festive nature of this home. It is impossible to walk in and not have a change of attitude here.....vacation time on steroids. The living area is comfortable with two couches and an "evil" chair....one of those that puts you to sleep when you sit in it....and two tables - a large dining table plus a smaller one for games. The downstairs bath is very large with excellent water pressure. The kitchen is great...this used to be a sandwich/smoothie type restaurant so the kitchen is open and well appointed. (side note: on Saturday morning a young man came to the door, skateboard in hand, and tried the door knob - locked- he looked confused, looked into the front window, I waved, he grinned and walked away....the 16 year old says "who's that? just a kid who wanted a smoothie I guess, said I - "wow, he's cute!"....so she went out to explain the change in status of the building to him....such an obliging girl....lol. ) If you need ice? Professional icemaker on the back enclosed porch! There is also a washer/dryer there that has been recently added. Makes beach packing SO MUCH EASIER! Upstairs are 3 bedrooms with another full bath.....more room than we needed, but the next time the teenager brings more friends - this IS the house we will be renting. The owner - Liz- is a pleasure to work with- she met us at the house when we arrived, gave us the tour and was a wealth of information as she lives and works on the Island. Parking close to the Pier can sometimes be difficult but there is driveway parking for one car plus Liz provides city parking passes that allow additional space on the street for vehicles. This rental is an excellent choice for size, location and fun-factor. It is hard not to smile just thinking of it.
We are located one block from the beach and the historic Pleasure Pier....and... conveniently located across the street from our Lil House is Menard City Park which includes the Mcquire Dent Recreation Center, Pirates Pit Skate Park, Scoggins Tennis Courts and a large playground/picnic area.
