Putney is conveniently located for access to Central London by buses, underground or train. Putney itself is the centre of English rowing, being the location for the world-famous Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race and the Head of the River Race, which take place only one minute away from the house.
It has a lively social scene, with dozens of restaurants and bars to suit all tastes and price ranges, including several overlooking the River Thames. There is also a cinema.
Putney is surrounded by open spaces, including Putney Common, Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park. There is a fine nature reserve at the Wetland Centre, a pleasant short walk along the towpath.
It is close to Southfields, for Wimbledon tennis.
There is a small park next to the house, with a children's playground and public tennis courts.
Good shopping, with an open-air food market every Friday.
