Enjoyed our stay!

  • 4 of 5

The house was clean and well maintained even if it was a little dated. The owner was very welcoming and professional and responded to us very quickly. The area itself is close to a lot of activities and is right on the water as advertised. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet place for a family getaway.

Owner's Response: Updates include removing carpet with greatly improved overall appearance of home. More towel bars.

I keep coming back.

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Bay House the entire month of November, but have stayed for shorter periods during the last two years. (I grew up at Cedar Point, and still have family here.) This house is very well appointed; plenty of pots, kitchen utensils, dish service for 12. In fact, we had 11 relatives at the house for Thanksgiving dinner. The appliances are all fairly new; there's cable TV and fast internet. Beds have newish mattresses and pillows; there are plenty of sheets, towels, etc. Doug and his mother are quite responsive to requests; for example, I asked about a radio to listen to an interview, and Julie was at my door with her own clock radio 30 minutes later. Other reviewers have mentioned the fantastic views of the bay from most of the rooms; I loved sitting at the dining room table watching the seagulls while I ate breakfast. The winds were usually off the Bay, and temps went down into the teens during my November stay, but the heater kept the house comfortable. I'll be back.

Wonderful place to stay on a trip to Cedar Point!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for two nights while we visited Cedar Point. Upon arrival the house did have a funky smell that we thought was cat urine, but we soon realized that the whole town of Sandusky has this funky smell floating around. You'll get a whiff every now and then. After the initial arrival the smell wasn't a problem.

The house is well furnished (even if a little different from the pictures, they were still nice.) The house was also very clean upon arrival! It does look like the owner has taken the time to update a lot of the house and still is in the process of updating. Some of the fixtures are older, and the master bath could use an update, but this didn't bother anyone in our group. The mattresses were comfortable, and there were plenty of extra pillows for everyone. The water pressure and hot water in both showers were perfect.

The backyard is gorgeous, situated right on the bay, and we were able to enjoy both the sunrise AND the sunset! Perfect place to have coffee in the morning.

Finally, the owner (and his mother who took care of things while he was out of town) were both wonderful to work with, and both had excellent communication.

Overall, we had a great time and would definitely return to this house for any upcoming trips to Cedar Point.

Lots of good, lots of not-so-good

  • 2 of 5

The photos of the home are far better than the actual thing. It served our purpose for family to sleep during a wedding week-end, however, we would have been very disappointed to have spent a vacation in this home. The neighborhood is lovely -- many beautiful, well-cared for homes -- I'm sure the neighbor wished the owner of this home cared as much. This home appeared to be an unfinished property either purchased as a foreclosure or the owner decided not to finish it and use it as an in/out rental. On the plus side, there are plenty of dishes, cookware, appliances in the kitchen and the living room is comfortable. The view of the lake is very nice and the neighborhood is quiet. The bedrooms are good size as well as the bathrooms and the showers work very well, also. On the negative side, the floors were so full of dirt, I had to sweep every one of them (and there are a lot) and the carpet was so dirty, I vacuumed to make sure the loose dirt was up. Still, the carpets are worn and dirty. In the bedroom with the queen bed, there is no dresser -- just 2 small, cheap night stands and wire shelves in a closet. The master bedroom has 2 huge closets that are unfinished and unusable -- instead, there is an ugly metal rack in the middle of the room to hang clothes. There are no curtains on the master bedroom window. In the 2-sink bathroom, there are no towel racks to hang wet towels and in the shower, there is no shelf of any kind to put soap, shampoo, etc. Overall, the furniture, including beds, are very cheap so it was good that we only spent a few nights there. Considering the MANY beautiful homes we've rented from VRBO in the past years, this home doesn't come close. Fortunately, we will not need to return to this area.

Owner's Response: Great news all the carpet in the home has been taken out and replaced with wood flooring. I do agree the carpet was in bad shape. This gave the entire home a poor reflection. We take pride on our rental property collection. Please take this review with a grain on salt and look at the many wonderful reviews.

Very Comfortable - Very Convenient

  • 5 of 5

Some friends and I had planned a trip to Cedar Point and had found hotels in the area to be over-priced, and very limited on space. This just wouldn't work for us. We decided our best option was to pursue something on VRBO.

Upon arrival, my friends and I were very impressed! The property was very large, exceptionally well equipped, and very comfortable. WiFi worked very well, the furnishings were in fantastic shape, and it had a spectacular lake view.

There are tons of great restaurants only a short drive away and, for us amusement park goers, the park was also only a few minutes away.

The neighborhood is excellent and surrounded with beautiful homes. You certainly can't go wrong with this home - we're very happy we managed to find it.
