What a perfect house for my family. So extremely clean and kitchen was amazing. All we needed to bring was our family. We have three young children in varying ages from 2-10 and all were well entertained by the beach toys, homeowner's video collection, and enclosed back yard. What a meticulously maintained house with all clean and high end linens provided by homeowner including beach towels and china for those special family dinners. We have already booked this house again for 1 week in August 2015 and are counting down the days until we arrive. Thank you Anthony for sharing your home with us.
Just returned from any idyllic two week stay where we had perfect weather every day of our Jersey shore vacation in this serene and scenic town of Spring Lake. We loved coming for day visits during the time we raised our children in Monmouth county and to return to the area now that we"re living out west to visit with our grown kids and grandchild was a dream come true; this gorgeous house helped add to our experience. Not only did the owner Anthony personally see to our comfort in numerous ways, but the touches he and his wife Maria have added to the property made us feel right at home from arrival through departure. The house is absolutely immaculate, the kitchen is well stocked from plenty of dishes, glasses and assorted cookware - to plentiful clean fresh linens and all rooms are tastefully and decoratively appointed. We rented bikes from Donna on Warren Ave, an easy walking distance away, and loved biking around town. For beach access, we preferred driving and found parking readily available. We'd not realized most Third Ave. restaurants close on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but this was not an issue - there are assorted other choices in neighboring towns; besides, with so many fresh farm stands around, not to mention the great butcher and appetizing selections from Tom Bailey's (not to overlook our frequent stops at the delicious Scone Pony for breakfast treats) it was a culinary delight to put together a quick and easy dinner on the outdoor grill. And the outdoor shower provided a great way to wash off after returning from the beach.
Even the bells and whistles from the nearby train, which did take some getting used to, faded to the background, and provided a source of tremendous entertainment to our grandson who enjoyed a ride on his first big train to Asbury Park and back. It also allowed us to partake of going into a Broadway show one day. But for the most part, we loved relaxing each day by the shore, with some side trips to Delicious Orchards, the fantastic Wegmans grocery store, Hoffman's Ice Cream, Cream Ridge Winery in Allentown for wine sampling, Allaire State Park and Point Pleasant for our grandson to sample life not readily available here in the desert of Arizona. A perfect sampling of life at the Jersey Shore!
An absolutely beautiful house and wonderful owners. House was extremely clean and beautifully decorated to a beach theme. Bedrooms were very comfortable. Toys provided by owners were great for our children. Kitchen contained everything needed to cook for a family of 10. All china and glasses matched and the use of the beach umbrellas and chairs was extremely helpful as we did not have to bring our own. We walked to the beach every day, sometimes twice a day. Back yard was nicely maintained and fully enclosed. We were comfortable with leaving our toddler to run around. Although I initially had reservations about the location of the train, we found it not to be an issue, quite entertaining for our children and not that frequent. Owners were very accommodating to us allowing us to drop off our perishables early on the day of check in. We have already booked our stay for next year and would most definitely recommend to all.
This is our third year renting in Spring Lake, and we have never rented a home that was as spotlessly clean and thoughtfully outfitted as this one. From bedding to towels to beach chairs—the house has it all. We were a multi-generational group of 10, including young kids, and the house had everything we needed for a pleasant stay.
Communication with Anthony, the owner, was super easy as we had a lot of concerns with families of different ages and needs coming together for this annual vacation. He was extremely accommodating and thorough in answering our questions.
Beautifully renovated and maintained, the front porch and back deck areas in particular are divine—the lighting on the front porch was perfect to settle in for an evening of reading, while others could watch a move in the den or play games in the sun room.
The kitchen is extremely well equipped and integrated into the house—which was key as we cook most of our meals and eat in.
The beach is a nice flat bike ride away—easy access to the south pavilion via Ludlow or Monmouth streets. We love the biking in Spring Lake, so this was not a problem for us.
Our host even checked in to ensure all was well, which was very thoughtful.
Considerations for other groups: Church Street is busier than most streets in Spring Lake, with cars moving faster than we were used to—especially with young children to keep an eye on. As there is no beach locker, make arrangements to have a bike carrier or a driver in your group to shuttle beach gear. The train was very exciting for the kids, but the horns do take some getting used to, and ear plugs are highly recommended for night time sleeping comfort.
If you think the pictures are beautiful just wait until you step on the property! From the moment you step onto the gorgeous and welcoming front porch with lovely furniture and lighting, you know this is going to be a place of relaxation. We walked into the front door to a spacious living area with fireplace, lovely dining room (equipped with china and wine glasses!) and a bright sun room with lovely wicker furniture. The kitchen looks brand new with up to date appliances and plenty of room to sit and have breakfast and look out onto the lovely back yard. The family room is fully equipped and has plenty of DVDS and games for the kids, as well as a nice collection of books in case of a rainy day! The bedrooms are lovely with new beds and linen. The bathrooms are spotless! The backyard is spacious and we had many lovely evenings with our friends out on the deck. We LOVED the outdoor shower for the days we were at the beach. So many wonderful things about this home. It is obvious from the moment you walk in that the homeowners took care into considering the needs of their renters. They were lovely to deal with and we are DEFINITELY coming back. Their neighbors even introduced themselves to us and offered any kind of assistance that was needed! Our concern about the nearby train wasn't even an issue and our grandson loved when it did go by. Thank you Anthony and Maria for giving us such a lovely place to kick back and relax! We'll see you next year!
Our family (7 adults) stayed in this house in mid-July 2014. The house was clean and comfortable. However, the train runs right behind the property. During the week, the first train - horn blasting - came through at 5:30 a.m. and then every half hour until 9:30 a.m. This was not conducive to the relaxed "sleeping in" vacation we had planned. Also, the house is almost a mile from the beach - not practical to walk if you're carrying towels, chairs, cooler, etc. We wish we had been aware of these facts prior to renting.
