Photos and Description of the Orne vacation chateau / country house rental 5 bedroom detached house, large private garden, quiet location

The house is situated on a quiet country lane on the edge of a hamlet close to Domfront. It is fronted by a tall hedge, which gives complete privacy. Entering through a double gate to a large parking area, the house is on a slight rise, surrounded by mature trees and shrubs. There is a large garden to the front, a huge garden to the rear and the pool situated to the side of the house. The house, itself is characterised by large light rooms due to the several large picture windows and the French sliding doors from the living/dining area and master bedroom. The latter opens onto a balcony, with views of the local church and beyond . The rooms are expansive, and the living dining area especially large (40+sqm). All the furniture is less than 2 years old and of excellent quality. There is a TV in the living room; otherwise no hi-tech leisure equipment. The kitchen is hand built oak. All downstairs rooms have traditional tiled floors. Doors and panelling in hardwood.

Domfront is a medieval market town with ruined castle and old quarter. It has a tourist office, restaurants, supermarkets and the usual banks etc.The surrounding area is rural farmland; small fields of cattle and pasture, to the West. East is forest,a spa town (Bagnoles). Locally there is kayaking, rock climbing, cycling, horse riding, hiking. The Mont St. Michel is one hour, as are the nearest beaches. Normandy beaches and Bayeux Tapestry at 1 1/2 hours.
