Ponta Negra is one of the most sought after areas in Natal, which in turn has some of the most stunning natural beauty in Brazil.
Although just south of the equator, the climate is comfortably warm all year round with the ever present Trade winds keeping the temperature down to reasonable levels.
The local people (Nordestinos) are as warm and welcoming as the climate and the crime levels in Natal one of the lowest in Brazil.
There are a large number of high quality restaurants, bars and night clubs to choose from in a small area and most are very reasonably priced.
The variety for shopping is extensive with several modern shopping centres scattered around the cities.
Natal has a fascinating history being colonised by firstly the Dutch and then the Portuguese and there are many buildings still standing from the colonial days.
The beaches in and around the city are stunning and a great way of seeing the area is by Beach Buggy, driving down miles of deserted beaches.
