One of the favorite homes in Granada. This wonderful home is the place to unwind and relax with 4 large bedrooms, outdoor kitchen, 4 charming bathrooms, Master bedroom has jacuzzi tub, the home features a large swimming pool. Housekeeping services, pool services, internet, cable TV, backup electricity, extra water tanks are included. There is a beautiful balcony from the master bedroom overlooking the pool and property. This house must be seen.
I live in Granada and built this wonderful house, but I am now in the process of building a smaller home. My sister and I own the Hotel Casa San Francisco, in Granada, Nicaragua.
Originally from San Francisco, CA, but I have lived and worked overseas for 27 years. I have specialized in development and international assistance in conflict areas. I had no home for many years just moving from war zone to war zone. In January of 2002 I had just finished working in Sierra Leone, West Africa and I needed a break from war. My sister and I came to Nicaragua and fell in love with Granada. We immediately bought 3 properties and then the fun began. We built my house and the hotel at the same time. What an adventure. We have seen Granada grow and it is a wonderful place to live, this is home.
Terry Leary purchased this villa in 2002
From the moment you walk into this home the stress falls away, with the beautiful arches to the sparkling water of the pool and the gentle sway of the palm trees.
A very gracious place, TV corner, Sala by the pool, kitchen and dining room by the pool.
Meals can be delivered from our famous international restaurant, Los Chocoyos,
Kitchen overlooking the pool,
Backup electricity and water,
House keeper six days a week, pool maintenance daily.
We have been to Granada three times and our family of five agreed that this was the best place yet! There were so many reasons that made it that way:
The home is beautiful and authentic. We were so pleased with the master suite on the second level and that each bedroom has its own bathroom. Most house pools in Granada are very small, so our three kids were thrilled with the HUGE pool at this home. The maid was a great asset and even washed our clothes. The location is ideal. We easily walked to almost everything right in the city. If you are an avid cook even when you're on vacation, you might find the kitchen a bit primitive...give in and go out to eat:)
The owner of the home, Terry, also owns the hotel around the corner. We took advantage of the wonderful services offered. Besides the great breakfasts at the hotel restaurant and the tapas at Bocadillos, they helped us find our driver, Leonel. He not only picked us up from the airport in a big new Toyota Hiace (seating for 12) but also drove us around the Granada area all week. No driving stress for us, which is fairly high in Nicaragua (there aren't many street signs and roads can be bad) AND Leonel brought us to see really neat sites and restaurants. The kids had fun trying the potter's wheel at a potter's house in the pueblos blancos...we never would've found that on our own.
Thanks, Terry, for letting us stay in your home and experience life in Granada. We loved it!
The house has a beautiful and good-sized swimming pool. The location is fabulous for the very walkable town of Granada; we also enjoyed its proximity to the Spa/Yoga spot that offered wonderful yoga classes and inexpensive massages and a gym and two of the best breakfast spots - the Garden Cafe and the Waffle House.
There were some maintenance issues with the home: we had to go about getting the wireless internet fixed (it was wired improperly) and getting more toilet paper for the house when we arrived as there wasn't enough there already. The microwave didn't work, missing light bulbs, and these sorts of minor maintenance issues can be better addressed. The master bedroom is gorgeous, as is one of the bedrooms that doesn't have its own bathroom but the other two bedrooms were a bit drab.
We spent three days in this great house. The floor plan is awesome and each room had a private bathroom and plenty of room. The location is very convenient. The property management company was so helpful as I was traveling with my disabled Aunt. Thank You!
This house was perfect for our group of 10 adults. The house exceeded all of our expectations, and we had a great stay. We especially enjoyed the pool and the fully stocked kitchen. The location was also ideal, being only a few blocks from the main square. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others. The only hiccup to our stay was low water pressure/no water in the upstairs master bedroom, but this was probably due to city water and not the house specifically.
This charming and elegant colonial home is a desirable destination for staying in Granada.
You will be immediately enamored by the architectural and aesthetic appeal of this home.
The home is in excellent condition, the rooms are clean and furnished with tasteful pieces and comfortable beds. The bathrooms are well maintained, clean with hot/cold showers. The Kitchen is very well equipped and offers a purified water dispenser.
The housekeeper is very friendly and does a fantastic job keeping the home clean and tidy.
The location of this home is stellar, nestled in a quiet corner and conveniently within walking distance to the main square and the opportunity to experience local arts and culture, delicious eats, people and the best of what Nicaragua has to offer.
The pool is mesmerizing! Be sure to take a dip after enjoying a fun filled day around Granada.
The owner was extremely helpful and accommodating from the very start. She is a fantastic person with great insight about Nicaragua.
We fully anticipate returning to this home and highly recommend this experience to travelers.
This house was perfect for our family, our three university aged kids were each able to have their own rooms and we too were quite comfortable. We had family friends staying about a 10 minute walk away and our house became the gathering place as there's lots of hang out space complete with a wonderfully large pool.
With the exception of a kettle and a sharp chef's-type knife, this house is very well equipped. If you are inclined to cook I would suggest you bring one good knife and though not essential a kettle would had been handy. Interestingly we rented two houses while in Nicaragua and kettles were elusive in each ! One much appreciated perk is the bottled water provided, the large decanter was never empty and there was always an extra in reserve.
The owner is associated with the Casa San Francisco Hotel which is just around the corner from the house. The hotel staff were wonderful and invaluable in helping make arrangements for day outings, not to mention their helpful input regarding Granada itself. We ran a tab at the hotel and we'd highly recommend their delicious tapas.
This house really is a beautiful property which feels immediately welcoming. It is clean, comfortable, well located, safe, and very relaxing; I would definitely recommend this beautiful home and would not hesitate to rent this property again.
On the VRBO site it says that you can pay for this house by credit card, however, when we tried to do that we were told we would have to pay in cash because of the high associated VISA charges. I'd suggest VRBO remove that payment option from this listing.
So what are you waiting for?! Book this house, and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
This home is located in the historical district of Granada. 2 blocks from the main square, close to museums, restaurants and all shopping.
