Latomia is a tranquil, spiritual setting with unobstructed breathtaking views of the Laconian gulf, the island of Elafonisos and the Mani Peninsula. The traditional stone, red-tile roof house with wooden beam ceilings is set into a gently sloped and terraced garden and small olive grove, and is within walking distance of a long sandy white beach with crystal-clear blue waters. The house is complete with gourmet kitchen, two terraces and a balcony; it is perfect for families that love to entertain. Upstairs, the open plan kitchen and dining room is great for food lovers. There is also a large living room that can sleep two people on a fold-out futon. The house offers basic TV, DVD player and WiFi. Downstairs, there are two bedrooms (master bedroom has air conditioning, second bedroom is recessed into cliff side and stays naturally cool). George is a lover of travel, food, fishing and surfing. He has lived in Greece, Australia and the United States and has visited over thirty countries. An ex-teacher he has dedicated himself to creating a lifestyle that offers to others the joy he has found in escaping the urban grind that he grew up in.

George purchased this villa in 2004

Pure magic! The views, the sea, the stars, and this amazing property that has been a home and refuge to countless people for around 5000 years. Add to this the fresh local food and flavors, amazing and giving people and the serenity of village life and you have my version of paradise.

A truly caring host who wants you to experience and enjoy all the benefits of Greek country life. Amazing sunsets and views from a property that feels labyrinthine as you explore its ancient caves and gardens. A wild but cared for patch of oasis green, set above a hot and bristling sea of silver/green olive groves.

We arrived ( 2 adults, 2 kids) in this little village in the middle of June and we stayed 10 days.....very nice house, clean and large, very well equipped, extremely quiet. George, the owner, was a fantastic host, he immediately solved the small problems we had (the basin in the kitchen, the gas bottle, th), he invited us for a BBQ at his home and he gave us many good advices. The only negative points were that in the house it was a bit hot, (I think air-conditioning has to be put in all of the 3 houses, especially for months like july and august) and we had ants in the kitchen. But apart from this, our staying was fantastic, and I would strongly recommend. The food was great, George adviced us about tavernas and restaurants in the nearby, and we always had delicious meals. Besides, the sandy beach was marvellous, and the sea as well. Just a few problems: the ferry boats going up and down every half an hour in front of the beach and the wind.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your response and thoughtful comments. We are so pleased that you had such a wonderful holiday and gave us a five-star rating. Air-conditioning has been installed in two of our houses and we are in the process of installing a unit in the third house as well. Our homes are in a quiet and tranquil setting, against cliffs, overlooking a bay and offer a traditional agrotourist experience. Given that they are renovated traditional homes in a country area, we do have to deal with some issues that come up from time to time but the owner George is always available on site so that he can immediately deal with any problems that may arise. He is also always happy to provide guests with information about where to shop, the best places to eat including lovely spots where you can enjoy all the delights of Greek mezedes right on the beach overlooking the bay, a very enjoyable Greek experience! He will also share information about places to visit such as how to get to completely secluded beaches or how to take the nearby ferry to the island of Elafonisos, which has Simos beach, one of the best rated beaches in the world.

Latomia is part of an ancient quarry located near the property. Other historical sites nearby include the base of a pyramid, ancient tombs and carriage tracks in stone, trailing into the sea. Windsurfing on Pounta Beach is a significant attraction for many Europeans as is the wetland of Strongyli Limni behind it. The island of Elafonisos is a 10min ferry ride with famous beach of Simos. Excursions are possible to the byzantine fortress of Monemvasia; to Gythion, the ancient harbor of Sparta; to Mystras, the last bastion of medieval Greece and the Paleologos dynasty with its sacred murals, churches and Frank castle. Visit the famous city state of Sparta built in the shadow of Taygetos Mountain. The caves of Diros, considered one of the most beautiful in Europe are a two hour drive though the Mani peninsula and the smaller but equally stunning Caves of Kastania are only 20 kms away with a scenic drive and lovely nearby beach. The hiking footpaths of Maleas offer wonderful day trips.
