Welcome to our historic 1890s cottage, conveniently located in a safe neighborhood, just 5 short blocks from everything that historic Downtown Colorado Springs has to offer! We also have a sister cottage next door (VRBO #355182) available to accomodate larger parties and a 2 bedroom upstairs apartment just on the other side (VRBO #462263).
This light, bright one bedroom cottage is the perfect spot from which to explore and experience all the wonders that Colorado Springs has to offer! It has classic Victorian 10 foot ceilings, wood floors throughout (no carpeting) and although it is 750 cozy square feet, it has a very open, spacious feeling.
The cottage is located on a quiet, one way, non-through street so there is not very much traffic and easy on street parking is always available.
The bedroom has a queen sized thick, comfy mattress. We also have a futon couch that opens into a fullsize bed. At times, we have also provided a cot or two for kids, so we can accomodate up to five or six people.
The property has a mix of contemporary furnishings with a splash of antiques. The living room has an antique armoire for hanging your clothes, as well as a smaller closet in the bedroom. There are new sofas in the living room and the dining room. There is a dining room set that seats four.
There is a flat screen 22' television in the bedroom and there is a 42' Flat Screen TV in the Livingroom. Both TVs have full cable TV service. We are also set up with fast wireless internet access so you can surf the web.
There is a fully stocked kitchen, complete with many extra amenities such as paper towels, napkins, dishwashing detergent, laundry detergent, spices, baggies, and garbage bags! There are air-conditioners in the bedroom and the living room (which cool the whole place). This year, we just replaced most of the windows.
The nice size kitchen has a pantry, as well as a dishwasher and washing machine and drier, but note, it is not an eat in kitchen.
The small bathroom consists of a clawfoot tub (with shower), a small sink and a toilet. It's a little tight but is quite functional.
The small (approximately 10 feet by 20 feet) fenced in back yard area has a gas barbeque, as well as a patio table and chairs on the small covered porch for al fresco dining. It has a mini-view of Pikes Peak. There is a chain link fence in the back yard with an empty lot behind it. This is an urban yard that isn't landscaped. Because there are no neighbors behind you, it's pretty quiet.
From our cottage, you can walk to downtown boutiques, restaurants, clubs, and antique shops. We are also less than ten minutes from historic Old Colorado City. We are less than fifteen minutes from exciting Manitou Springs with its famous free natural underground soda springs, its wonderful restaurants, shopping, supermarkets and galleries. Garden of the Gods park, with its exquisite red rock formations, is a must see and it is less than 15 minutes away with a fantastic visitor's center. The Broadmoor Hotel is just a hop, skip and jump away, as well, less than 15 minutes... The Air Force Academy is about 15 minutes north of us, and Colorado College is about 15 blocks away. The Olympic Training Center is east of us and less than a five minute drive.
Bear Creek Dog Park and Bear Creek Nature Center are less than 10 minutes west, and are wonderful places to take the kids! There is also a beautiful mountain zoo less than 15 minutes away. There are many fabulous day trips less than 2 hours from us, including the drive up Pikes Peak, marvelling at the Royal Gorge, rafting on the Arkansas river, soaking in hotsprings, exploring Cave of the Winds, and visiting the Cliff-dwelling museum, all great entertainment for kids.
We allow dogs, but please let us know if your dog has separation anxiety and it will need a kennel and we will try to accomodate your pooch.

We have 2 Corgi dogs of our own, all rescued from the Humane Society... We take our 2 pups with us whenever we can, and they love taking long hikes with us around the many parks in the Colorado Springs area. We have been married for over 30 years. We lived in New York City for our first 35+ years, and have lived in Colorado for the past 20 years. We love it here! (You will too!)
Mark Lowenherz purchased this cottage in 2004
We lived in downtown Colorado Springs for five years. We had fallen in love with the downtown area when we first moved here and when this unique property came up for sale, we couldn't resist!
Colorado Springs has many open space areas and parks. We have 2 Corgi dogs (all rescue dogs, adopted at the Colorado Springs Humane Society), and we take them hiking up into the surrounding parks and mountains. We loved being in the heart of all that Colorado Springs, Old Colorado City and Manitou have to offer!
I was in town for job interviews and fortunately found this cute little house that was centrally located to everything. The owners went above and beyond to assist me with a last minute arrival. The house provided everything I needed and had a very comforting feel! I look forward to staying again and would highly recommend it to anyone needing a safe comfortable scene a few blocks from downtown C/Springs........
Our family of 6 plus dog stayed here for a week over the holiday. It was great for our sized family. Do not misunderstand, it wasn't spacious, it was modest but accommodated every need we had. It was much bigger than we anticipated before arrival and allowed each family member their own space. The owner even brought over an additional blow up mattress so one of our kids didn't have to sleep on the sofa (and there was still plenty of room with it too).
Mark was super easy to work with and there wasn't a single thing left out to convenience a large family, from loads of fluffy towels to games and movies. The least highlighted, but our favorite feature was the back patio. The yard was small but perfect, our pooch was happy. We sat every morning with coffee at the patio table and enjoyed the beautiful weather. And we sat outside during the rainy weather under the patio roof. This place made every moment of downtime from vacation not only tolerable, but comfortable and easy.
This house is centrally located, close to grocery, downtown and a park with quiet, free parking right outside. We were a short ride to all the attractions in CS and Manitou Springs.
I stayed at this property for a little over a month waiting on government quarters. Perfect for a short or extended stay. The cottage has everything you could possibly need. Close to FT Carson and right downtown Colorado Springs. Easy walk to dinner and a quiet, safe neighborhood. Parking is right in front. Mark is incredible and very easy to work with; honest, fair and incredibly hospitable. Couldn't of asked for a more convenient or nicer place to stay. Thanks Mark! Thanks for being so supportive of our Military Families
We stayed in a different property owned and operated by this owner. It was very nice! It also is an older property but very well maintained inside, very clean with home-y furnishings. Mr. Lowenherz is extremely helpful and accommodating - he gave us lots of useful info about the area, we had some problems with the internet due to storms and he was very prompt in making sure it got back up and running. The only drawback is the air conditioners in the windows - they are loud when running and prevent opening windows for circulation - but unavoidable in an older residence. We definitely hope to stay here again!
We stayed in the cottage for a week and found everything to be very convenient. The cottage although basic has everything you would need but bathroom is extremely small. We found the bed to be uncomfortable but the owner quickly changed the base when we told him so he is very easy to deal with. Cooking facilities and washing facilities are excellent and lounge is very comfortable.one thing I would say is that the owner needs to leave instructions on how to work the entertainment setup as we couldn't work that out. Possibly because we are from a different country. All in all a very convenient place to stay to see everything the area has to offer and good value for money.
We found the cottage Very Nice! Within quick walking distance to downtown Colorado Springs. Equipped with everything a family would need. And around the block is a jogging path as well as two parks close by for children. We found our stay at the cottage to be very delightful. And would highly recommend as well as come back.
