Situated in Mosier, ( 5 min to HR) with its back side on a quiet street; designed and built by master craftsman glenn nelson, this cottage is pure funk and pure cool, a rustic modern motif, full of architectural details standing alongside a beautiful cherry tree. Enjoy having cocktails outside on the handcrafted stone patio, walk under the trellis and eat cherries from the tree. Step inside
Notice all the custom concrete work, the fusion of modern glass with iron and metal, and wood. Wood stone and steel: the roughsawn 100 year old salvaged timbers, the modern glass, and the concrete terrrazo floor.
The simple small kitchen, easy to prepare a meal and all within a simple reach,
Have a cocktail and take it all in, plan your day in the beautiful gorge and come again and again to this functional artistic simplicity of this quaint little cottage . ( think one open room with loft above)
Head to ten speed in the morning and ride up to the old hiway before ten. So many things to do and explore.
At the end of the day, climb up the wooden ladder to your comfy loft and allow slumber to set in. Night night

Christina SPROULE purchased this cottage in 1990
Rustic modern was his inspiration using salvaged and hard to come by materials, the whole cottage was designed and made by glenn . Its a testament to his wood craft, his love of concrete, to design and to contrast. The modern glass contrasting with the old rough sawn wood creates a hip and cozy ambiance. It is all new construction, people think it s old but really its all new and done in his personal style.
In 2003 he completed the renovated victorian next door , showcasing his variety.
Mosier is just a great little getaway, quaint and inviting , you can walk to anything and you feel relaxed right away. Bike from the house, walk to the beach( 8min) or just settle into the mosier life.
Hood river is only 6 miles away for more shopping and dining experience, then come home,( or bike home( if you dare on the old hiway) to mosier
NOTE: you need to be able to ambulate a ladder to get to the low level sleeping loft
The artisan cottage is a wonderful place to stay. My wife and I stayed there for four nights and had a wonderful experience.
The cottage is perfectly located near to Hood River and tons of beautiful outdoor activities including swimming, hiking and scenic drives. The cottage is a piece of art, and Mosier is quiet and quaint. I highly recommend it!
Super cute rental convenient to wine tasting and about 10 min from DT Hood River. Ideal for a couple, we had a last minute friend join us for wine tasting and we made it work with the pull out couch! Adorable backyard, lots of sunlight. Very clean, well maintained and an excellent value for the price. Owner was readily available for questions and very helpful with additional recommendations. Only wish Mosier had more restaurants and bars!! Check out Rack and Cloth for local cider and organic food. We grilled on the outdoor BBQ too, worked great! We'll be back!
This cottage is even more charming than the pictures show. Book it and enjoy discovering all of the lovingly appointed details & beautiful craftsmanship yourselves. The hosts made us feel very welcome with fresh flowers, a bottle of wine & recommendations for things to see and do. We stayed over Memorial Day weekend with our 1yr old in a pack n'play up in the loft. We kept saying how we felt like we were in the French countryside somewhere! It was a perfect getaway destination and base for exploring the whole area.
We spent 3 nights at this quaint cabin and found that it was just the perfect place for us and our two teenage daughters. I do not recommend for elderly people to stay here unless they are comfortable sleeping on a pullout couch. The owner put a lot of love into renovating this cabin. It was very peaceful. No tv and no phone. And there are two great restaraunts in the area that we frequented each day. I would highly recommend this place. The only set back was no air conditioning. Hopefully they will have it when we return next summer. The owner left fresh flowers and a bottle of wine for us too which was a nice added touch! when visiting we highly recommend going thru the twin tunnels. it's a great place to bike walk or run and leads to Hood River. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. I give your palce a rating of four STARS ?
What a lovely find the cottage was! We were looking for a weekend getaway and we found a restful place to stay, a quiet, cozy little town and some beautiful architecture and artistry to admire. We enjoyed the weekend farmer's market, the easy access to the Mosier to Hood River trail and the quick access to the freeway for our out of town adventures. The kitchen was well supplied to cook all of our meals and we enjoyed good nights' rest in the sleeping loft. Thank you for creating such a thoughtful, artistic, quiet getaway.
