A superb stay......

We relaxed as soon as we walked into Glebe Barn. The barn was neutrally decorated and had a very light and airy feel with French windows linking seamlessly to the open fields surrounding the property. Lots of thoughtful touches such as a welcome pack, lots of local information, tennis racquets and bikes to borrow made for an effortless holiday. Our three children (12, 9 and 3) had a fantastic time, swimming in the sheltered (and fenced) outdoor pool, playing tennis, and the unexpected favourite; kite flying for hours every evening immediately outside the barn.
This part of Suffolk has lots of lovely low-key things to do and no crowds or queues, even in the school holidays. We cycled along quiet lanes to try out the off-road trails at Rendlesham Forest, rented a dinghy from Bawdsey Quay (followed by tea and cakes at the Boathouse Café, where even the jam was home-made!); visited Sutton Hoo to marvel at the burial mounds and tried fish and chips on the Aldeburgh seafront. There seemed to be lots of other events going on and places to visit but we were too busy relaxing at Manor Farm Estate to try them out.
I would thoroughly recommend Glebe Barn for a family holiday; the quality of the property and the setting are superb. We found the description on the website to be accurate, the booking process was very simple and the owner was quick to respond to any queries before we went. Once we arrived our only disappointment was that we had booked one week and not two, but we have already rectified this for 2010!
NB – If using Sat Nav, set it for the centre of Bawdsey. Using the postcode for Glebe Barn will deliver you to the other side of the Deben estuary with an extra 50 minute drive.
Owner's Response: We are always delighted when other families enjoy Glebe Barn so much that they re-book! It's certainly a place where you can do as much, or as little, as you want to... and it seems we should certainly add 'kite-flying' to the list of local attractions!
