Photos and Description of the Suffolk vacation cottage rental Barn-style cottage sleeps up to 7 near sea in Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Glebe Barn is a tastefully furnished, neat cottage in rural Suffolk. With one double master bedroom en-suite, one twin bedded room and one single bedded room (raised single bunk reached by a ladder) sharing a family bathroom plus a guest cloakroom downstairs, the cottage sleeps five comfortably with a sofa bed (in living room) for a further two people if required. French doors from the living room (with wood burning stove for cold winter evenings) lead straight onto a patio/garden overlooking fields and farm land with the sea in the distance. Glebe Barn is one of twelve homes in this recent development designed to provide the ideal holiday getaway. Set in the extensive grounds of an Elizabethan Manor House, the semi-detached cottage benefits from the exclusive (to residents) use of a tennis court and heated swimming pool, plus hundreds of acres of farm land for walking and beaches nearby. Spend lazy days crabbing, sailing, fishing or enjoying the local gastro-pubs.

In praise of Glebe Barn

Hope Springs Eternal Herefordshire
Review Submitted: June 2, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
The week we spent in this property was almost like home from home, but better, as we were on holiday. The layout of the Manor Estate was brilliant as you never felt that you were living on top of other people. The amenities were brilliant and the views stunning. The property had everything that was needed for some rest and relaxation and the owner and her housekeeper couldn't have been more helpful. The nearby town of Woodbridge had some lovely shops and some excellent restaurants. (Especially The Galley). Suffolk is a great part of our country, a part to which we had never been before, but to which we will return. The coastal path was a short drive away and there were lots of places of interest to visit. It was such a shame that the day we decided to visit Lavenham, it rained. Our little dog enjoyed being able to join us for lunch as a lot of the pubs allow dogs into their gardens, some into the bar.
A wonderful week was had by us all.
Owner's Response: We are delighted that you had such a good time - we always aim to go the extra mile but the weather is sadly one thing that we cannot control! We hope you will visit again - there's much unspoilt beauty in the area still to be experienced...and thanks for taking the time to send a review - it's always appreciated.

A superb stay......

RYTDBP UK
Review Submitted: September 17, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We relaxed as soon as we walked into Glebe Barn. The barn was neutrally decorated and had a very light and airy feel with French windows linking seamlessly to the open fields surrounding the property. Lots of thoughtful touches such as a welcome pack, lots of local information, tennis racquets and bikes to borrow made for an effortless holiday. Our three children (12, 9 and 3) had a fantastic time, swimming in the sheltered (and fenced) outdoor pool, playing tennis, and the unexpected favourite; kite flying for hours every evening immediately outside the barn.

This part of Suffolk has lots of lovely low-key things to do and no crowds or queues, even in the school holidays. We cycled along quiet lanes to try out the off-road trails at Rendlesham Forest, rented a dinghy from Bawdsey Quay (followed by tea and cakes at the Boathouse Café, where even the jam was home-made!); visited Sutton Hoo to marvel at the burial mounds and tried fish and chips on the Aldeburgh seafront. There seemed to be lots of other events going on and places to visit but we were too busy relaxing at Manor Farm Estate to try them out.

I would thoroughly recommend Glebe Barn for a family holiday; the quality of the property and the setting are superb. We found the description on the website to be accurate, the booking process was very simple and the owner was quick to respond to any queries before we went. Once we arrived our only disappointment was that we had booked one week and not two, but we have already rectified this for 2010!

NB – If using Sat Nav, set it for the centre of Bawdsey. Using the postcode for Glebe Barn will deliver you to the other side of the Deben estuary with an extra 50 minute drive.
Owner's Response: We are always delighted when other families enjoy Glebe Barn so much that they re-book! It's certainly a place where you can do as much, or as little, as you want to... and it seems we should certainly add 'kite-flying' to the list of local attractions!
