Lovely, quiet house in local neighbourhood

We had a lovely week in this house. It is situated in the old part of the town, and is accessible by the 'roads' that are actually steep staircases. The house is three rooms stacked on top of eachother. There are two bedrooms; the double is on the first floor of the main house, whilst the twin room is in the basement, below the living/kitchen area and accessible by going outside, down the steps in the courtyard, and into the basement room. Both bedrooms have their own bathrooms; that in the basement being considerably bigger than that on the first floor. The first floor bedroom has the views, and lovely light. Our 3 year old was a bit nervous of sleeping in the basement room, so she ended up on the very comfortable sofabed in the living room. Had she been a bit older, or had there been two children, I can imagine the excitement of being a little bit away from the 'dreaded parents' would have been wonderfully exciting!
The house was clean and tidy when we arrived, and there were basic provisions in the fridge and cupboards. The caretaker, a wonderful Norwegian-born woman who has lived in Skopelos for over 20 years, and who spoke perfect English, was brilliant, especially on our last day, when the weather wasn't good and there was a question of where the ferry would go from at 6.30am.
We tried out as many restaurants as we could, given our budget and the poor euro-pound exchange rate. The closer ones were good if expensive; but by far the best food we had was in the restaurant recommended by the owners, up the road away from the harbour. If we'd found it earlier we would have eaten there several times. Well worth walking to, and much better value, too.
We hired a car, and travelled around the island, visiting various beaches and sites. We also tried the restaurant in Glossa that the other guests had recommended -- really lovely.
We had a lovely week, despite the weather being appalling (rain storms or clouds all week). I would highly recommend this house if you want to stay on Skopelos, you want to be away from the crowds, you want peace and quiet (our 3 year old was quite the noisiest thing in the neighbourhood) and you want the privacy and convenience of self catering. I would highly recommend the house for families, too, provided there were no children under 3 (and definitely no crawling babies -- too many stairs!).
