Lagniappe-“a little something extra”. That’s what Lagniappe Lodge is all about. Sitting within view of the top of Rumbling Bald, you can forget the hustle and bustle you’ve left behind while you enjoy the beauty and quiet of the forest around you.

The lodge is a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath cabin in the Rumbling Bald Resort. We have 3200 sq. ft. of living space on two floors and a loft game room with a billiard table and game table. In addition there are 1200 sq. ft. of wrap-around deck covered on three sides. A lower level patio adds another 500 sq. ft of outdoor living area. A parking pad beside the lodge provides ample space for four vehicles plus plenty of parking space in the driveway. Being behind the main gate in Rumbling Bald Resort means you can easily enjoy all the amenities of the resort-swimming pools, fitness room, basketball court, tennis courts, spa, 2 golf courses, the beach and boating on the lake.

For entertainment at the cabin, play a game of pool on the table in the loft area, or gather the family around the game table with one of the board games. Enjoy watching a movie on one of the new HD TVs equipped with either blu-ray or DVD players. Or select a book from the bookshelf and lounge on the wraparound deck.

When you’re hungry, there’s a huge fully equipped kitchen with professional grade appliances. If you’re in the mood to grill, fire up the gas grill on the deck. Seating everyone for a meal is no problem with plenty of seats around the unique 12 foot granite counter. If you are not in the mood to cook, then choose one of the two on-site restaurants where you can dine.

As dusk approaches, be on the lookout for the deer who come out to feed. At night you can stargaze to your heart’s content as the stars are brighter in the dark skies. During summer evenings watch for the twinkling of fireflies. On crisp evenings light a fire in the fireplace and cozy up. After such a busy day, you will have no trouble falling asleep surrounded by the deep quiet of the woods.

About Al Maenche

We are retired educators living in south Florida. We were drawn to the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina where the geography and climate are so different than southern Florida. We were attracted to Rumbling Bald Resort because of its family-friendly amenities.

Why Al Maenche chose Lake Lure

We fell in love with this home after a visit last fall when our grandchildren delighted in running around the deck that encircles the house and our daughter-in-law deemed it her 'dream home'. We knew then that we could create many more memories here. And we decided that our guests could too.

What makes this lodge unique

We knew it was a special place when we awoke to the first morning light streaming through the large windows in the master bedroom. Standing in our yard listening to the soft breeze blowing through the trees confirmed our decision to buy this home.

Lagniappe Lodge is in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina within an hour's drive of Asheville where the splendid Biltmore Estate is located. Also, be sure to take a tourboat ride on Lake Lure and visit nearby Chimney Rock park where you can hike, picnic and enjoy an aerial view of the area. Another hours drive away is Flat Rock where the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic site and the famed Flat Rock Playhouse are located.

WOW is all I need to say!!!!!!
Our family vacationed at Lagniappe lodge over Thanksgiving vacation. We met our adult children from different states for a wonderful family reunion and vacation. Lagniappe lodge is a beautiful, clean, newer lodge. The owners have the home furnished and decorated nicely. The beautiful kitchen was a dream to cook our thanksgiving meal in. If you forget anything we found it there. We would definitely stay there again. LOVED it.

Wonderful place to spend time with friends

We drove from Canada to meet our good friends from Florida for some relaxation and golf. Lagniappe Lodge was the perfect place to stay. A beautiful home...well equipped....very comfortable...very welcoming. As soon as we arrived we were relaxed. We enjoyed golfing during the day and cooking meals in the gorgeous kitchen in the evening. We hope to spend time there again next year.

Wonderful Family Weekend at Lagniappe

Just wanted to say "hats off" to the owners of Lagniappe for truly going the extra mile in outfitting their lodge. Our family of 8 gathered from three states and five cities for an extended weekend of relaxing and reconnecting and Lagniappe Lodge was a great place to do that. Having stayed at multiple VRBO rentals, I can say that this one has the details down. Every time we said to one another "Did you remember the .....?" we would find what we needed provided.

The property was clean and uncluttered, the owners were responsive to our inquiries and accommodating and the resort beautiful. We enjoyed walking up and down the resort roads and playing down by the lake. An added bonus was the flock of 14-15 wild turkeys that paraded outside through the yard several times! And the peace and quiet!

Thank you and our only wish is that we could have stayed longer.

A wonderful property for a memorable family vaca!

With busy and far-flung adult kids, we were happy to spend a few days together at Lagniappe Lodge. The large open living room area was a wonderful and comfortable gathering place for the six adults to gather and admire the antics of our three- year- old granddaughter. We enjoyed solid nights of sleep in very comfortable beds. The kitchen was well-equipped and we really appreciated the little extras, like ziploc bags, spices, and condiments. We swam in the pool and the lake, and had fun with renting a pontoon boat to tour the lake. Another day we went to Chimney Rock for a river walk and slicing for gems! We laughed, played games, ate, and all too soon had to leave. We would heartily recommend the Lodge as a great rental property, and Rumbling Bald as a great resort.
