A Native Californian, who has adopted Hawaii as my home. Having lived on the islands for 10 years I have found my place in the world. The Big Island has given my little family a wonderful community to practice the life we have always dreamed of.
My husband does construction and landscape and we are vendors at the local farmers market sharing our homemade raw granola, fresh fruit and coconut milk. We also do vegetarian cooking classes as well as catering. I have been a yoga instructor for 10 years and practice the art of massage.
We hope to LIVE SIMPLY AND THINK HIGHLY and spread some love along the way.
Chery Tunnicliffe purchased this house in 2010
We have been to most of the islands over the years. The Big Island was our favorite because of the slower pace of life away from the big cities and traffic. Leilani estates is a very peaceful subdivision with a very active community association. Lots are still affordable by my standard
Temp is constant 65 80 ,its in the rain forest so can grow most any thing, the house is close to most anything you need . It's a gardeners dream in my opinion.
This property is incredibly gorgeous. The exterior is landscaped impeccably, with an abundance of flowers, banana trees and lush vegetation. There is a huge hill with a long pathway leading down into a clearing, perfect for children to play soccer or just run around. The hot tub is beautifully situated with a great view of the night sky and the jungle plants. There are two outdoor showers, which are really nice to rinse off in after a nice long soak. The interior is equally beautiful with a beautifully updated kitchen. The living room is open and very comfortable. Each bedroom is large and nicely decorated with plush beds. The room I slept in had a gorgeous view of the enormous rainforest plants growing in the back of the house. Cheryl and George are wonderfully friendly and helpful caretakers and made me feel truly welcome. I can't wait to return to this amazing, unique home :)
How wonderful it was to arrive in Hawaii for the first time ever and have this amazing home to rest our heads. The outdoor grill, the hot tub, two outdoor showers (amazing) and the rainforest at every turn were all wonderful surprises. A fully equipped kitchen with lots of counter space to prepare suppers. Beautiful landscaping all over the property. The owners thought of everything when building this home and we felt very well accommodated. If you have kids that love to explore, ages 2 to 102, the entire back yard is wonderland, but safely mowed with trees lining the edges. Lots of birds, frogs and lizards as you walk through the yard. But not too many, nothing to deter you from pulling your chair out on the lanai and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Farmers markets were easily reached, Hilo was close, beach parks easy to reach, great shopping in Hilo and the beautiful Lava Tree State Park was right around the corner. I would recommend this lovely home to anyone venturing a trip to the Big Island!!! Mahalo to the owners for providing such a beautiful place to stay!
By far the best accommodation you will find near Hilo. Cheryl and George are lovely and their home is beautiful. There were some great snorkelling spots near by and the volcano is in easy driving distance. The outdoor showers and hot tub were amazing amongst the plantation setting. You can't go wrong staying here, you will find everything you need. Thanks for a fabulous holiday Cheryl and George, we hope to return soon, and will recommend your home away from home to others.
