The Brown Pelican Guest House is named in respect for the native Eastern Brown Pelican that fishes our coast daily. Built in 1928, this charming house is nestled in the Historic Fort Crockett Neighborhood of Galveston’s military past located in the central area of the island. The upstairs portion of the house offers two bedrooms, each has a queen sized bed and twin sized trundle beds.
Only a block and a half from the beach, you can see the ocean from the second story of the house. Just a short drive to all seawall attractions, including restaurants, shopping, fishing piers, bike and jet ski rentals, and the newly opened Historic Pleasure Pier! Less than a ten minute drive will get you to Schlitterbahn and Moody Gardens. The Strand Historic District offers walkable shopping, eateries, and bars. The island also offers many historic mansion tours and has several museums.

Having family and friends in Galveston, we stay there a lot, and this is our new "go-to" spot. Very cozy, clean and comfortable. Stayed there with two teens and everyone had plenty of room. The kitchen is so well equipped and the dining area so nice that my wife prepared and served us a fabulous Christmas dinner there. Can't say enough about Bill, the nicest landlord you will ever find (he decorated the house for Christmas just for us). Highly recommend!
We frequently go to Galveston for our close getaway destination. We have several rental houses we choose from depending on their availability. This home is our new favorite. We have three children and the large living space, backyard, wi-fi, cable, outside shower and location are excellent. Not to mention the charm of this older home. Bill, the owner, made sure we were comfortable and was available if a need arose. My only disappointment was there isn't a washer and dryer. It wasn't a great concern during this visit since it was to cold to swim at the beach. But, in the summer, the wet suits, towels, and clothes can pile up fast with kids. Fortunately, there is a laundrymat nearby.
We found this home while looking for something to accommodate two family's. It is one street off of the sea wall so an easy walk to the beach or restaurants. The house itself looks to be built in the 20's or 30's, so the historical aspect was very cool. Inside looks to be professionally decorated and styled. We spent most evenings cooking and playing with the kids in the beautifully landscaped back yard. The home was very clean and seemed well maintained. We would use this property again and recommend it to friends.
My family and I had a great time at this home. This was our second time staying at this home and we would definitely stay again. Everything was as described and pictured. The house was nicely decorated and the bedrooms were very spacious and comfortable. The rental process was very easy and fast. Everything was as expected.
This is a wonderful place to stay. It looks just like the photos and was also very comfortable. It was so nice to be able to walk to the beach and is conveniently located. We only stayed two nights - next time we will stay longer! I would definitely recommend this location to my friends and family.
Beautiful home, felt just like home...clean, everything was walking distance. The owner was awesome, sweet, and nice. I honestly look forward to staying there again next year.
