Kent and I live in Snohomish County. We love the mountains and had been looking for a place for over 3 years. We knew we found a special place the first time we drove through Roslyn and found this community nestled in a beautiful valley against a mountain of pine trees and on the alternate west view where the snow-capped mountains.
Tracy & Kent Hogue purchased this townhome in 2010
We love the fact that Roslyn and Roslyn Ridge is only 1 hour from Seattle. Having the access to the higher altitude, close to Snoqualmie Ridge is just awesome in the winter. It is hard to choose which season we like best- we really can't. Summer is so beautiful and they have so many sunny warm summer days we can escape the Seattle clouds to.
Views from the back porch are amazing. You can watch the swallows dart to and fro, while the big sky opens up in front of you and the mountains add a beautiful backdrop to all the beauty of the area. Facing west the porch we spend a lot of time relaxing with a drink, the sun on our faces.
The townhome was very cute and comfortable! Lots of space for our group of 5, and the large balcony/deck was really nice (great afternoon sun). Roslyn Ridge was a good location if you are looking for nearby outdoor activities, but also want some slower "down" time reading and relaxing poolside. It was nice having the the unit be "owner operated"....questions were answered and calls/emails returned in a timely fashion. We'll be back!
This was a great condo in a nice community. Everything was as promised and it was an easy trip to Ronald, Roslyn and Cle Elem. Would stay here again.
This was a last minute trip to get away from the daily grind & take some time to relax and get outside. The townhome was a perfect fit for our family of 4 & in a great location. We enjoyed our days in Roslyn, Cle Elum, & Ronald, all within a 5 minute drive. So many activities to choose from and sights to see! We could have used another week to enjoy it all. The townhome was wonderful! Plenty of space, clean, everything we needed to be comfortable & all the conveniences of home. Tracy was outstanding in giving us a list of places to go, see, & do. The pool was the BEST! We were so grateful to have found this hidden gem. Thank you!
My husband and I stayed at this little condo/cabin for three nights for a quiet romantic getaway and absolutely loved it! They did a great job with the interior and being surrounded with over a foot of snow, made you feel like you were indeed staying in a cabin, vs. a townhouse, for which we originally were searching. They were excellently stocked with supplies and the kitchen had everything you'd need!
There's a beautiful view of the snowy mountain tops form the balcony. We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace, for which some logs were kindly provided. A bag of Starbucks Christmas blend was set out for our pleasure.
There is absolutely only positive things I can say about our experiance with this adorable home.
We would definitely love to go back there! Thank you!!!
Had an amazing time in the cozy and convenient townhouse. Close to shopping, site seeing and outdoor activities. The suite was fully equipped with everything for a carefree and fun getaway.
Our small family loved staying at this town home a short distance from Roslyn. The unit is impeccably clean and looks brand new. All of the things you'd expect (towels, pool towels, basic kitchen supplies) are there, plus things you'd only expect to find in a real home. It definitely felt like a home away from home.
There's a nice TV and sound system for watching movies or TV, and a sound system for your iPod/iPhone. The kitchen was perfect for us and included all the comforts of home, so cooking in is an option. We used the main bedroom since our 2-year old slept in our own travel crib, but if you have older kids the 2nd bedroom is great (a bunk bed and little TV to amuse the kids). The unit could easily sleep 6 in comfort (there's a sleeper couch in the lounge).
There are lots of fun activities in Roslyn and Suncadia - we didn't get to explore nearby Lake Cle Elum on this visit but that looks fun too. The complex has a large pool and fountain for younger kids to play in. It was not too crowded on a sunny weekend and had lots of pool chairs available. The only thing to note is that the wind can be pretty strong, so it feels a bit colder in the pool than you expect.
Dining in Roslyn was mixed. Village Pizza place was incredibly busy (it took an hour to get our pizza) and not very good. The Roslyn Cafe had great decor and food, but terribly slow and unfriendly service. (I'd still say it's worth a visit). And of course the Roslyn Brewing Co. can't be missed! There are up-scale food options in Suncadia (and a winery to tour) - perhaps next time :)
Small niggles: The ice-maker in the unit was broken but the owners had thoughtfully provided ice trays that were full, so it was not a real concern.
The balcony is great for catching some sun and relaxing, but looks onto the back of other units, so the view and privacy are not ideal.
The only place to barbecue is outside the garage / entrance to the unit. If you're looking for a place with a nice outdoor grilling and eating spot, this unit is not ideal.
-Movie theatre in Roslyn is fun, in a old house current True Grit is the current movie.
-Breakfast at Roslyn Cafe, really good.
-Roslyn, walking around the town. They have a great ice cream shop Cicely Cafe
-Roslyn Museum locals run it and tell stories about the mining in 1800s, ask about the cross-dresser miner
-Roslyn Cemetary- not kidding it is huge and by nationality for all the miners that died.
-Head to lake Cle Elum just down the road and bring foldup chairs. I think you can rent Skidoos at the last resort and Quads Too. Dont drive down the sand unless you have 4wheel drive and stay out of the ruts.
-Roslyn Sunday Market 11ish to 2pm
-Roslyn Art walk evening either last Friday or Monday of the month
- Events at Suncadia, go there and check out what is happening for kids that week. IThe Greeters Cottage on the way in has a list of activities for the weekend. We love going there just to visit the lobby and check the view, you can ask the front desk for a kid's game to pre-occupy them while you sit and enjoy the view.
-Glade Spring Spa - wonderful amenities. I suggest dropping off the wife for a relaxing treatment!
-**SwiftWater Winery**- as you drive into Suncadia, pass the Greeters Shack, the first round-about within SunCadia has a right exit to SwiftWater. Plan to have lunch or dinner. It is kid friendly. There is plenty of casual seating around the fireplace which they will serve to you and the Hoist Restaurant. Hoist is closed from 4-6pm but they do an abbreviated menu at that time and serve at the 2 bars or casual seating.
-InnerTubing or Ice Skating in winter are available and great fun!
- ECHO is a local magazine with all the happenings and companies that do horseback and fishing guides.
- Pioneer Coffee- great coffee
- Ixtapa mexican food mexican
- Visit Leavenworth for a day
- Visit Ellensburg, stop at Thorpe fruit stand for the best fruits and veggies.
Remember to take the time and relax use the deck at the condo which has a great view. You will also run into very friendly people on each side of our condo. They are usually up on the weekends and very friendly.
Pool-We usualy spend a lot of time at the pool and take lunches there. The area behind the pool is very pretty.
Tennis/Volleyball Court- there is tennis, volleyball ...got to chck if you can get rackets and balls at the Activity Center.
INTERNET ACCESS and PHONE- Depending on your provider phone access can be a bit spotty. If you need good internet access the Suncadia Lodge has free wireless service AND a room as you enter to the right with 2 open PCs. During the summer RR Pool has internet access.
