The homes offer privacy, spacious accommodation, some with private pools or jacuzzis. Each house is unique and varies in size with some being able to accommodate private parties of up to 10 guests. Mansion Sophia, a rare find. The imposing large wooden entrance gates of Mansion Sophia conceal a secluded and pretty private courtyard, complete with the recent addition of a swimming pool. Double doors lead directly from the courtyard into a spacious lounge and dining area with its superb high vaulted ceilings and original polished wooden floors, adding warmth and character to the room. The two double bedrooms, one master and one smaller second bedroom, lead off from either side of the central living room. The master bedroom has a majestic four-poster double bed. One bathroom, with modern amenities, services both bedrooms. The well equipped kitchen has an original stone arch which now serves as a washing up and preparation area. The coup-de-grace is the lovely kitchen garden, perfect for enjoying alfresco meals under blue skies whilst absorbing the village atmosphere.

Megalochori is a lovely village with white painted houses, beautiful churches, narrow cobble streets and a quaint village atmosphere surrounded by vineyards. It provides a perfect base from where to explore the island of Santorini. To get to the best beaches of the island (Perivolos, Vlyhada, Red Beach) or to the capital (Fira) is just a 10 minutes’ drive. The village itself has 3 excellent restaurants, a local bakery & a mini-market. Megalochori is a true reflection of the local Santorini experience!

We stayed at this property in May, and even had our marriage ceremony beside the pool. It was a fairy tale setting that is unprecedented in beauty. The pictures, as beautiful as they are, cannot show the detail of how great it really is. Megalohori is such a pleasant refuge from the tourist plagued rest of the island. I would not stay anywhere else on the island. The people of the Villas and Mansions are wonderful. They are always available to help in any way possible. I will definitely go back to stay at the Villas and Mansions of Santorini Island.
