The houses have been sensitively restored to blend functionality and aesthetics of the old homes with the surrounding villages. The homes offer privacy, spacious accommodation, some with private pools or jacuzzis. Each house is unique and varies in size with some being able to accommodate private parties of up to 10 guests. Villas & Mansions of Santorini Island offers visitors the unique experience to have a taste of by-gone days on the island without compromising on style, home comforts and discreet service. A car rental is included in the rates so guests have the freedom and flexibility to discover the island on their own.

Details for Stone House Villa 1 Bedroom, Sleeps 2, 1 Bathroom

The Stone House can only be described as a small treasure. Tucked away in the heart of the village, it is a gentle 150 meter stroll up a foot path from the village square, to the charming villa. The name is derived from the exterior of the house which is clad in local volcanic stone. This newly renovated villa, originally a canava, was once used to produce the sweet nectar-like dessert wine, Vinsanto, which is unique to the island of Santorini. Two cylindrical troughs, once used for distilling the wine have been preserved to make unusual interior light features. The enclosed cobbled courtyard has a private plunge pool which doubles as a Jacuzzi with four massage jets to one side of the pool. The canava has one open-plan room which serves as a sitting room and bedroom, with a small kitchenette to the front of the villa. The spacious Moroccan style bathroom boasts with hand-crafted brass fittings and has a stone banquette and large shower.The Stone House is perfect for a couple.

Megalochori is a lovely village with white painted houses, beautiful churches, narrow cobble streets and a quaint village atmosphere surrounded by vineyards. It provides a perfect base from where to explore the island of Santorini. To get to the best beaches of the island (Perivolos, Vlyhada, Red Beach) or to the capital (Fira) is just a 10 minutes’ drive. The village itself has 3 excellent restaurants, a local bakery & a mini-market. Megalochori is a true reflection of the local Santorini experience!
