Why Hans and Lisa Miller chose Sugarloaf

Nestled among three large Jeffrey Pines, with a backyard open to the forest, Laika's Place is a perfect family getaway. You can escape the noise and hustle of Big Bear Blvd, but the short drive to all of Big Bear's attractions makes day and evening adventures easy to get to.

What makes this cabin unique

The beautiful redwood siding on our cabin sets it apart from the surrounding homes. Inside, the warm and welcoming stone fireplace makes you want to get cozy on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa, or even gather around the table in the expanded kitchen area. We also added several features to protect your kids to including padding around the hearth, a safety gate upstairs and child locks on the kitchen cabinets. My children and I along with my neighbor and her children stayed here over Presidents Day weekend. The cabin is lovely and in a beautiful serene location very close to the National Forest. Great sledding is only a short walk down the street, and the neighborhood is very quiet and secluded. Huge fenced backyard. The cabin was clean and well maintained and the owners have thought of every detail to make your stay easy. Toys for the kids, DVDs TVs upstairs and downstairs and games made it easy to let the kids and adults find something to do in the evenings. Plenty of space for the whole family and very convenient to the city of Big Bear. Owners are very friendly and helped with pre-stay arrangements and information & whatever was needed. Will definitely stay again! This cabin is a gem!

Great Family Cabin

The cabin was perfect for our family of 5. The kitchen was absolutely amazing. It had every pan or utensil you can think of even a coffee bean grinder which we will keep in mind for our next trip. The backyard was huge and we felt comfortable being inside and letting the kids play in the backyard. The cable and wifi were a hit with my husband. If you clean the place before you leave they refund your cleaning deposit. The only negative is that the largest bed size is a full so if you like sleeping with your spouse plan on sleeping very close together. There is no reason for us to consider staying at another cabin the next time we go.... unless of course all of the positive reviews end up making it unavailable!

Exceptional Cabin!

My group of friends and I had a blast at this cabin! The night we arrived there was a storm that brought in about 14in of snow! My boyfriend was so excited to shovel the snow (being in the snow was a new experience for him). The kitchen was great, everything we needed was right there and easy to find, we loved the layout of the cabin, it was great to be able to cook meals and still have conversations. The neighbors right next door and across the way were extremely nice. We were told to walk to the end of the street for a great hill to go sledding on, even though we are all in our 20's we had tons of fun playing in the snow, having snow ball fights, and making snowmen. I highly recommend this cabin! Thank you Lisa and Hans for letting us enjoy your mountain retreat!

We loved it! It was perfect for two adults and two kids... could have had another kid or two there and it still would have been great. The layout is excellent: room with bunk beds leads up to the loft. The kids loved the loft. They disappeared up there instantly, and when they were up there we could barely hear them ;). The yard (which was full of snow when we went) was perfect for playing in the snow. We also liked the fireplace and the open kitchen. Everything was clean and comfortable and well thought-out, with pretty much everything you would need and more for a fun and relaxing stay. We also liked the area - very peaceful and quiet, but still just a short drive to Big Bear Boulevard. We would love to stay here again anytime.

Lovely Christmas Eve at cozy Family Cabin!

My family and I had a truly lovely time at this incredibly peaceful cabin. The cabin is spacious, but effortlessly heated by the fireplace/room heaters. The appliances are all in excellent working condition and the kids loved to have their own TV in the loft. The back yard is quite large with a nice slope that can be used for sledding. It is fenced all around which made me feel comfortable letting the little ones (7-12) play on their own with minimal supervision while I prepared snacks. At the end of our stay, I found the supply closet fully stocked with everything I needed to leave the cabin clean and tidy. We were given our full deposit so I think the owners are very fair when it comes to assessing cleanliness. Thank you so much for sharing your little cabin in the mountains with us!!! Looking forward to coming back to this peaceful retreat! (:
