QUIET FAMILY FRIENDLY CABIN NEXT TO NATIONAL FOREST (WI-FI)

Sugarloaf Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Looking for a relaxing retreat in the mountains of Big Bear? This is the place. A cozy cabin that is perfect for a family with small kids. Avoid the noise of Big Bear Blvd for quiet evenings and mornings while only 10 mins from the slopes and the lake. 10,000 sq ft fenced in lot with open space behind the property. The national forest is just a few hundred feet away with access to miles of hiking and exploring.

The cabin has a rustic feel with the modern touches that make it easy to use and comfortable. The exterior is made from redwood, with a large deck that wraps around to the kitchen. The interior has wood trim and slat throughout and a cozy gas stone fireplace. The kitchen is fully stocked with quality cookware, table settings, Norwegian waffle iron (the one that makes little hearts), popcorn popper, blender, etc. The living room has a new couch and 40' flatscreen TV with a DVD/VHS player.

The beds have quality mattresses and warm comforters. The second bedroom has a pyramid (twin over full) bunkbed and a pop-up crib. The loft is a great play area for the kids with a safety gate to close off the stairs. It boasts a large window overlooking the backyard, a queen bed, twin bed, a flatscreen TV with DVD/VHS player.

The cabin will sleep 8 if there is a mix of kids and adults. If just adults, recommended group limit is 6 to comfortably enjoy the cabin. Rates are based on guests using our cabin sheets and towels. However, guests may choose to bring their own sheets and towels, and can request a rebate of $40 off their total bill.

Come relax and enjoy Big Bear from the quiet woods of Sugarloaf. Maps and brochures are available at the cabin, and the owners are happy to provide suggestions on things to do and see.

About Hans and Lisa Miller

We are a family who have enjoyed relaxing and having fun at the cabin with our small children. The Air Force has moved us from this incredible getaway and we hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

Hans and Lisa Miller purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Hans and Lisa Miller chose Sugarloaf

Nestled among three large Jeffrey Pines, with a backyard open to the forest, Laika's Place is a perfect family getaway. You can escape the noise and hustle of Big Bear Blvd, but the short drive to all of Big Bear's attractions makes day and evening adventures easy to get to.

What makes this cabin unique

The beautiful redwood siding on our cabin sets it apart from the surrounding homes. Inside, the warm and welcoming stone fireplace makes you want to get cozy on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa, or even gather around the table in the expanded kitchen area. We also added several features to protect your kids to including padding around the hearth, a safety gate upstairs and child locks on the kitchen cabinets. If you're looking for place to relax and have fun with your family, this is it.

A couple of long time friends and I planned our vacation to Big Bear. It was our privilege to stay at this cabin. It is so well kept, well organized and the owners could not be more courteous and professional. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and stay and would not hesitate to book here again.

Nice cabin, very clean, great kitchen and dining area for family time. The deck was large with plenty of room for outdoor eating. The nature trails are nearby for walking and hiking and the tres do smell sweet like butterscotch Thanks for a great mini vacation, no problems.

What Sugar loaf is all about.

Spent ten glorious day with friends, family and alone time. Loved every minute. I would have rated it 5 stars but really missed having some light in the back after dark. Also, there was no place to hang any clothes. We had a great time and will definitely stay again, and again, until I can get a place of my own.

Wonderful place!

We had a very good time! It's a very quiet, peaceful, and secure place. It's pretty close to all the hiking places; you can see the wild birds and sometimes animals. The cabin is clean and very cozy with a warm feeling to it. A beautiful place to stay if you are going to visit Big Bear.

Great Location!

  • 5 of 5
We spent Easter weekend at this great cabin in Sugarloaf. We typically rent cabins in Moonridge, but thought we would try something new. As we walked through the neighborhood and surrounding national forest, we fell in love with the quaint little town. The neighbors were friendly and we felt like we were away from the hustle and bustle of town. We loved sitting on the back deck and seeing only trees. We hid Easter eggs in the huge backyard and never ran out of hiding spots. Our kids, ages 3 and 6, loved hanging out upstairs and playing with all of the toys and watching movies. We played countless hours of board games as a family on the large kitchen table, in front of the fireplace, and upstairs. The kids slept soundly in the bunk room, but blackout shades of some sort would have been great so they would sleep in! I haven't found a rental yet that blocks the rising sun! We had a wonderful, family-filled weekend and the owners were amazing to work with. Be sure to pack your own linens and towels. To keep costs down, the owner allows renters to clean the cabin themselves before leaving.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed the cabin and that the yard was able to serve as a great location for hiding Easter eggs! One additional clarification note for future renters. We do have sheets and towels available for your use as an option for a fee. We do not build that in to the cost of the rental to give you the flexibility to keep costs down.
