Overview

Sugarloaf Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Looking for a relaxing retreat in the mountains of Big Bear? This is the place. A cozy cabin that is perfect for a family with small kids. Avoid the noise of Big Bear Blvd for quiet evenings and mornings while only 10 mins from the slopes and the lake. 10,000 sq ft fenced in lot with open space behind the property. The national forest is just a few hundred feet away with access to miles of hiking and exploring.

The cabin has a rustic feel with the modern touches that make it easy to use and comfortable. The exterior is made from redwood, with a large deck that wraps around to the kitchen. The interior has wood trim and slat throughout and a cozy gas stone fireplace. The kitchen is fully stocked with quality cookware, table settings, Norwegian waffle iron (the one that makes little hearts), popcorn popper, blender, etc. The living room has a new couch and 40' flatscreen TV with a BluRay player.

The beds have quality mattresses and warm comforters. The second bedroom has a pyramid (twin over full) bunkbed and a pop-up crib. The loft is a great play area for the kids with a safety gate to close off the stairs. It boasts a large window overlooking the backyard, a queen bed, twin bed, a flatscreen TV with DVD/VHS player.

The cabin will sleep 8 if there is a mix of kids and adults. If just adults, recommended group limit is 6 to comfortably enjoy the cabin. Rates are based on guests using our cabin sheets and towels. However, guests may choose to bring their own sheets and towels, and can request a rebate of $40 off their total bill.

Come relax and enjoy Big Bear from the quiet woods of Sugarloaf. Maps and brochures are available at the cabin, and the owners are happy to provide suggestions on things to do and see.

About Hans and Lisa Miller

We are a family who have enjoyed relaxing and having fun at the cabin with our small children. The Air Force has moved us from this incredible getaway and we hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

Hans and Lisa Miller purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Hans and Lisa Miller chose Sugarloaf

Nestled among three large Jeffrey Pines, with a backyard open to the forest, Laika's Place is a perfect family getaway. You can escape the noise and hustle of Big Bear Blvd, but the short drive to all of Big Bear's attractions makes day and evening adventures easy to get to.

What makes this cabin unique

The beautiful redwood siding on our cabin sets it apart from the surrounding homes. Inside, the warm and welcoming stone fireplace makes you want to get cozy on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa, or even gather around the table in the expanded kitchen area. We also added several features to protect your younger children to including padding around the hearth, a safety gate upstairs and child locks on the kitchen cabinets. If you're looking for place to relax and have fun with your family, this is it.

Perfect little family getaway

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect for our 2 small families of four. From the moment we arrived the kids were ecstatic about the snow on the ground and the cabin looked great from the outside. The cabin was just as described, there was plenty of room to gather around the kitchen and the front living room was cozy as well. We went up Superbowl weekend and turned out to be a excellent rental with the large backyard for the kiddos to play in the snow without really having to leave the property. The snow toys are a bonus as long with the snow shovels the kids found it really to create their own snowmen. Also with the cabin being the perfect size not too big or not too small the cleaning was a breeze since the owners provide you with all the cleaning stuff to make it easy. The General Store and the hiking trails up the street were also a bonus and we found a larger hill for the kids to sled down and had to be the highlight of our weekend. Sugarloaf is a great little city without the big bear resorts traffic. There's really not a bad thing I could say about this cabin during our stay other than the remotes had no batteries.

Thank you so much for a great stay!

We will return and recommend!

fantastic for all

  • 5 of 5

This has been by far the best cabin I have rented, and best owners I have had the privilege to work with. We loved it do much we have already booked our next new years trip up here. The kids loved the snow and large back yard for the kiddos to play in, you did.not have to leave the property in less you wanted to. All the amenities you could think of are there, I especially loved the toys up in the loft for the kids and the living room was my favorite room of the house. Relaxing by the fire drinking some tea and watching the kids finish up there snow sledding in the back yard to me is piceless. Owners are great, neighbors are great, everyone is very helpful there...the kids love d the moon ridge zoo..also... I wish everyone gives this place a chance , you won't be disappointed.....it's lovely...

Exactly what we wanted!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time using this cabin. It was clean and well organized. The snow had just arrived and the sledding in the backyard was a great first experience for our kiddos. Perfect for families. The list of suggested activities was extremely helpful as we were rookies to the area. Thank you so much!

Best Cabin Covered in Snow!!!

  • 5 of 5

I usualy don't write reviews, but with the weekend we had, I felt I had too!!! I booked this cabin back in a hot September day, hoping for a winter miracle, and a winter miracle we got! My wife and I have not traveled up to big bear since 2004, and now with kids, we wanted to celebrate my daughters 9th birthday. On the drive up there, we were surprised on all the snow that was falling, so much I was required to put snow chains, luckily there were Caltrans workers assisting people incase they needed help installing chains on your car. Once we got to the cabin, we were glad to see the whole cabin looked clean, organized, spacious, upgraded, but still had the cozy cabin feel. My kids discovered the upstairs loft, and they did not want to come down. The loft had two beds, a heater, toys, and even a VHS/DVD combo player, which was great, I got a chance to teach my kids all about rewinding and fast forwarding a VHS TAPE..lol..they loved all of the Disney movies the cabin had. They enjoyed themselves every minute we were there

Downstairs, my wife and I started making our own pizzas(we brought a cooler full of food, snacks and drinks) the kitchen is full of everything you need to do your own cooking which was great. After dinner we went outside to the all white back yard. We had 6-8 inches of snow fall that day, which we were told by the neighbor it hasn't snowed like that in over 2 years. We felt we were so lucky to get so much snow(this was the first time our kids ever touched snow)the back yard is big enough to do a little sledding, but if you Walk up about 300 feet on Orange st you will find the best hill to do your sleding. We ended the night with a movie from the nice dvd collection in the living room.

Overall we were very pleased with the cabin. The owners were quick to respond and easy to talk to. It's in a great location, and by the way, we ate at Griffters restaurant in sugarloaf and it was great(Try the 50/50burger... It was delicious) I would definitely recommend this to any parents with small children. There's even more toys and board games downstairs in the living room. We got a lot of great memories and also some very nice Christmas card pictures! We will definitely be back again!
