Photos and Description of the Chalabre vacation house rental 6 Bedroom house to sleep 12 on the borders of the Aude and Ariege

This Maison de Maitre is situated only 10 mins from the Lac de Montbel when you want a break from lounging around the lovely walled swimming pool area. There are 6 bedrooms, 3 doubles and 3 twin bedded rooms, bathroom, shower room with WC and 2 separate WCs. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer and leads into the dining room with seating for 12. The dining room door leads out onto the pool and outside dining area (south and west facing). The house has a games room with table tennis table together with television and DVD player. The large living room has seating for 12 and French windows which lead out onto a large balcony (south and east facing) perfect for summer breakfast or evening drinks (too hot mid day). The garden is large and can accommodate children (or adults) who want to kick a ball around or play croquet. There are lots of caves, Cathar castles, lakes to visit as well as the medieval towns of Mirepoix and Limoux and Carcassonne.

Nearest Airport: Carcassonne at 50 Kilometres
Nearest Train: Quillan at 20 Kilometres
Car: necessary
Le Caussigne is only a few minutes away from the local towns of Chalabre and Puivert (boulangeries, cafés, restaurants)where one can while away the hours by the lakes of Monbel(windsurfing, canoeing, pedalos) or Puivert (ideal for young children). The towns of Limoux and Mirepoix with their wonderful markets are close by as are the cathar castles of Montsegur and Puivert. All the Cathar castles including Carcassonne - a World Heritage Site - are within easy reach of the house. Being on the borders of the Aude and Ariege the caves of Niaux(cave paintings),Mas d'Azil(inhabited for 1000's of years) and castles of Foix and Roquefixade are nearby. Follow the trail of the Holy Grail at Rennes le Chateau or visit the Canal du Midi. If you come in the winter there is skiing at the Mont d'Olmes and Ax les Thermes and cross country skiing on the Plateau de Sault although Easter skiing is unreliable as it is usually too warm by then. At the end of the day just relax around the pool!

Although we have said that the house is not suitable for the elderly or infirm - it would depend on the disability. Age is NOT infirmity. The house is not suitable for permanent wheelchair users due. Smoking in the house is not allowed but one can smoke in the garden (please pick up stubs).
