Peter and Penny Blaisdell have been Marblehead residence for over 40 years. Peter is a native Marbleheader and Penny grew up on Long Island sound. We have two grown children and after some great careers have decided to enjoy our sailboat and explore Maine when we rent our house during the summer and when we travel south during the winter.
Penny Blaisdell purchased this house in 1986
We decided to purchase the house even before we saw the inside. The location is very special and it is very rare that houses in our neighborhood ever come on the market. All you have to do is walk down our lane and you feel you are on the coast of Maine. At low tide you can walk to Brown's Island which is an uninhabited island owned by the Trustees of Reservation. Our locations is truly priceless!
We have a beautifully restored antique that we understand dates back to the 1700s with two working fireplaces and charm throughout. Our house is filled with lovely antiques and is warm and cozy. We have a lovely garden out back that provides water views and even has an outdoor shower with nice hot water.
This was a lovely family that wanted to know more about relocating to the Boston area. We provided local information about the North Shore of Boston. With young children, we wanted to make them feel at home so we had toysb by the youngsters. They were a delightful family and left our house immaculate.

This beautiful antique residence in Marblehead, MA more than met our expectations for a Thanksgiving home away from home. Beautifully appointed in a walkable section of Old Town Marblehead, this comfortable home includes a water view and a garden setting. The complete "cooks" kitchen was a bonus and gave us the opportunity to have our Marblehead family join us for dinner. We will definitely put this home on our list of favorites and plan to come back in the summer to take advantage of the outdoor setting. Our thanks to the owners for their attention to detail.
This home is equally as charming and stunning as the location of it! I arrived for a two week stay with my two young girls and we all took to it immediately. The owners were so easy to talk to and everything was all set without any fuss at all. We had a fantastic time and most especially enjoyed the one minute walk to the very accessible ocean where they could play in the sand, swim, and walk over to the island to do some fun exploring. The rooms are spacious and lovely, the beds completely comfortable, the kitchen easy and comfortable to use, and everything else was easy to understand and find. I really hope to get back there this summer, and as someone who grew up in Marblehead I have to say that this house is as perfect as it gets to take it all in!
The House is well equiped and beaches are in front of the house.
We had a wonderful stay and hope to come back soon.
Mu husband and I and our adult kids had a wonderful stay at this lovely Marblehead house. The house is beautifully situated: a short walk to town, an even shorter walk to a small beach, and shorter still to the lovely water at the end of the lane. The house was clean, comfortable, and convenient. The hosts, Peter and Penny were gracious and accommodating. We hope to go back!
My wife and I (and our dog!) rented this lovely home just steps away from the ocean for a week in May, 2013. We arrived to find basic staples in the fridge including wine and cheese to get us going. We spent most of our time at the house either in the sitting room off the kitchen or outside in the garden which faces the nearby cove. At night, there's a large screen TV with full cable which was great for a couple of hockey fans! The owners, Penny & Peter, were out of town, but still managed to answer any questions we had. The property was clean, quiet at night and "as advertised" in the VRBO listing. It's about a 10-15 minute walk into town which we did many days. The town has a number of parks overlooking the harbour - a great place if you're travelling with a dog. We'd recommend Shubie's for groceries, take-out and wine and the 5 Corners Kitchen if you want a dinner out. If you want to fully explore a the area around Marblehead, you'll need a car. We highly recommend the property.
We stayed for two weeks in Feb. 2013. We found the home to be very comfortable, functional, and charming. This house is lovely and so authentically Marblehead. It is furnished with beautiful antiques and decorated with style. The wide board floors and the fireplaces are gorgeous. The kitchen is a real cook's kitchen, outfitted with everything you need. There is lots of comfy living space on the first floor, and two modest-sized but pretty bedrooms on the second. The master has a beautiful ocean view, as does the kitchen and first floor family room. The pictures on this site don't do it justice.
The location of the home is special. It is located on the corner of a winding Marblehead street and a little lane that leads down to the ocean. It is probably 200 feet to the ocean, if that. You can walk down the short lane and be at a small beach, or explore the rocks, or at low tide walk out to a
The owners are very helpful and accommodating. They went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasant and easy one. They were lovely to deal with, before, during, and after.
We felt very lucky to spend two weeks in this beautiful old home, a true piece of Marblehead history made comfortable for today's lifestyle.
Located in the oldest section of Marblehead, this neighborhood is a one minute walk to beach and Brown's Island. We believe the date of the house dates back to the late 1700's as the construction is post and beam. You can walk over to Brown's Island at low tide and the area is great for kayaking, wind surfing and board paddleing. The water is warm, clean and reminds you of being in Maine (except the water is warmer). Our garden provides lovely views of the water and has great breezes even during the hottest of days.
