Foxborough is in the delightful village of Atherington nr Umberleigh. There is a 2 minute stroll to the local post office/ general store which doubles up as the tea rooms serving breakfasts, lunches and afternoon tea. There is excellent walking over moors and the Tarka trail as well as fishing, golf and horse riding close by. There are numerous local pubs and restaurants around the village serving excellent beers (so my husband tells me) and fantastic food. Barnstaple is a short drive away and the beautiful sandy beach of Instow with its delightful Boathouse Restaurant and pub (fantastic food) is a 15 minute drive. The Cranford Arms in Torrington, The Old George in High Bickington and the Red Dragon with its bar made from monastry doors in Chulmleigh are our favourite places to eat. Appledore, Croyde, Braunton Sands and Woolacombe are all close by. The market town of South Molton is 8 miles away (about 10 - 15 mins drive) and Barnstaple is a similar distance

We stayed at Foxborough Cottage in May 09 for a few days as we wanted to visit Rosemoor the RHS Garden in Torrington, which is a few miles down the road..
The cottage is stunning with very good facilites and lovely comfortable beds.
We were very happy with the cottage and will definately recomend it to friends and also we would visit there again.

Fabulous Foxborough

Having just spent a week at Foxborough Cottage, I can confirm - Yes ! it really is as good as it appears on the website. The decor and furnishing is well above-average for a holiday rental and the cottage has a truly homely and relaxing feel to it.

Holiday cottage

Gillanddog Bath
Review Submitted: September 12, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We have rented many holiday cottages and this was by far the best presented on arrival. It is very well equipped and the furniture is way above the standard we normally expect.
The location is very pretty and a friendly farmer was happy to sell us fresh eggs , the lanes are not walker friendly especially with dogs in tow so a car is a must but lots of places to visit within a half hour or so drive.

Review Submitted: September 5, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
The week we have just spent at Foxborough Cottage has been most enjoyable. The cottage was exceptionally clean and every need was catered for. It was spacious but had a warm cozy feel about it and having two bathrooms upstairs and a toilet downstairs was ideal for us having 4 girls in our family!
There are a few nice pubs in the surrounding area serving good reasonably priced food, we visited the Bell in at Chittlehampton and found it to be friendly and of good quality. A little further out is Barnstaple having an excellent Italian Restaurant called Giovanni's which is located just opposite the Queen's Theatre (both well worth a visit).
All in all a great holiday, possibly the best cottage we've rented so far...you won't be disappointed.

Foxborough Cottage

lizzyanne Cambridge, UK
Review Submitted: July 27, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Very attractive cottage set in a small village close to the coast and devon villages. Foxborough is a well maintained cottage with good facilities, two tier garden with barbeque and two seating areas. It is well fitted out with plenty of equipment and was newly decorated and cared for. The cottage was very clean and the garden well tended. Very useful to have wireless internet connection. Local pubs and restaurants are nearby, as well as several attractions worth a visit, namely Dartington Glass, Rosemoor NHS garden, Broomhill sculpture garden with over 300 sculptures and a fab tapas lunch, and many more. A visit to the local fete and bike rides on the Tarka trail were excellent. A relaxing place to stay away from the crowds.
Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. Glad you had a good time, sounds as if you got up to lots during your stay. We must get around to cycling the Tarka Trail when there's a free week!
