Overview

Hollywood Apartment Rental Photos and Description

This exotic apartment is a hideaway amid the action and fun of Hollywood. The lush back garden is a wonderful place to read a book while enjoying a refreshment – the warm Southern California sun streaking through the tall trees. Staying here is worth a trip to Hollywood all by itself, but with the attraction of all that LA has to offer virtually blocks away, the apartment is part of a truly special house. A 1920's cottage with windows everywhere that let in beautiful morning and evening light, staying here is a wonderful experience.

About Yvonne

I have known this house since I was a child and always had a deep attachment to it. There is something magical about it. I am a world traveler particularly smitten by the equatorial regions. Planting the tropical garden made this a very happy place to return to when I came home from my travels. I lived away for years--first in the San Francisco Bay Area where I studied art and then in London where I studied fashion design but Hollywood and this house always pulled me back.

I live on the property, so it is more than a business to me. Decorating the apartment was an act of love. Designing and planting the garden (which continually changes) is an act of obsession.

Yvonne purchased this apartment in 1962

Why Yvonne chose Hollywood

This house is a hideaway amid the action and fun of Hollywood. Wake up to the music of the birds. The lush back garden is a wonderful place to read a book while enjoying a refreshment – the warm Southern California sun streaking through the tall trees. Staying here is worth a trip to Hollywood all by itself, but with the attraction of all that LA has to offer virtually blocks away, Willetta is a truly special house. A 1920's cottage with windows everywhere that let in beautiful morning and evening light, staying at Willetta is a wonderful experience.

The separate apartment (which is the one available) made this rental a friendly place. When you are feeling sociable you can mix. When you want to be alone, you have privacy. I am happy when guests take advantage of the barbeque and the garden which makes indoor/outdoor living possible here.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My friend and I were fortunate enough to stumble upon Yvonne's beautiful looking apartment when searching for a better value stay in the Hollywood area and were blown away with what we found.

Upon arrival we were not disappointed, an apartment that had the feel of being in a quiet and relaxing area but was a short walk from Hollywood Boulevard and incredibly useful amenities! We could not have asked for anything more, Yvonne herself was incredibly welcoming and her neighbour, Michael, was a pleasure to talk to and also helped with any of our queries!

Being our first visit to LA this was exactly what we needed and way more than we could ever have asked for!

All in all a lovely home that you can come back to after a long day of exploring to really relax in, highly recommended.

Hollywood Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely delightful experience in Yvonne’s one-bedroom apartment of her home on Willetta. My fiancee and I spent the month of March here, spending our days enjoying the gardens from the teak table under the plentiful shade of the bamboo. We now have many terms of endearment for this place, the “Willetta Cottage,” the “Hollywood Hideaway,” and of course the bedroom’s “Nesting Nook” was probably one of the most cozy places I’ve ever enjoyed a book or writing in my journal.

Yvonne and her downstairs neighbor Michael became our new friends, making us feel very welcome. Ginger, our 11-year old collie mix, enjoyed playing in the yard and relaxing on the patio as much as we did.

The apartment is well appointed with everything to needed to reside comfortably for an extended time or for a short getaway. The location of this rental is excellent, with a quick 3 minute uber to Hollywood and Vine.

Highly recommend!

An oasis in the city.

  • 4 of 5

First thing....Yvonne responded to my inquiry very quickly and made the whole process painless.

Our experience was good! The gardens looked awesome but unfortunately we could not explore as much as we wanted because it rained the whole time we were visiting. There was always space open for street parking right in front which was really convenient. We did walk down to Hollywood Blvd between rain showers. It is relatively close but there are hills, very narrow sidewalks and crossing one busy road.

The house is old but kept up well. The bed is really comfortable and had no problems sleeping. It is surprisingly quiet for being in the city. The shower was a little tight but manageable. Overall had a great stay!

The most peaceful,serene,hollywood hideout

  • 5 of 5

If you are coming to visit Hollywood whether it is to see the walk of fame, hunt for celebrity sightings, party the night away, or catch a show at the Hollywood Bowl , The Pantages, or the Ford Amphitheater, this is the place to stay! After a long day of walking around Hollywood and doing your sightseeing, this property is the most amazing, beautiful, paradise to come back and relax at. Our hostess, Yvonne, is super helpful with ANYTHING you may need or any questions you have. She even gives you a map because you can just walk down the hill to Hollywood blvd or Sunset blvd to see the Sunset strip. After staying here a few nights it has seriously become my dream home. Her lush, tranquil garden goes far back into the property and there are little hidden areas (antique or even rustic tables and chairs ..complete with twinkly lights and unique lamps she has from different parts of the world) throughout the garden to sit and relax with a book or if u are traveling with a friend or two they are great places to sit and have a glass of wine. My favorite was a table all the way in the back of her garden where I discovered a full blown fish pond and gorgeous statue. Yvonne has great taste, knows how to make you feel welcome, and everything was perfectly clean when we arrived. Our accommodations were spacious, came with anything we possibly needed, and were just decorated beautifully. I will definitely come and stay here again. As much as possible actually, and will definitely always recommend it to friends and family . Fairly priced..fun vibes..just simply a great stay. Lucky to have found Yvonne and her lovely home

Great Location

  • 3 of 5

We stayed at this apartment for four nights while on vacation (Mom, 21 year old and 16 year old). The apartment is in a great location, but might not be for everyone. Here are the pros and cons:

Pros:

Very convenient location to Hollywood attractions and Highway 101

Reasonably Priced

Convenient Street Parking

Comfortable Bed

Quiet Neighborhood

Yvonne is very pleasant hostess

Small space is maximized with smart storage solutions (wall shelves to put things, chest to hold linens, etc).

Cons:

Vintage stove seemed too complicated for us to bother with (so, we decided not to cook). Also, as stated in the description, the oven does not work.

One window does not close and we would have felt a little safer if it had. However, the neighborhood seems to be very quiet and safe.

Front door has kind of a flimsy lock. We would have preferred something a little more sturdy. Again, the neighborhood seems to be very safe and quiet. So, I think it is probably the "single mom" traveling with kids speaking.

Bathroom is extremely small. The shower is very tight and I found that if I angled the shower head down too much (I'm short), it would fall and knock me in the head.

The owner smokes and my son complained of smelling smoke around the property.

There are steps down the side of the house to get to the apartment and several steps across the patio areas. A couple of the steps coming down are not completely level, but the description accurately states this apartment is not suitable for handicap. I am just clumsy. So, all of the steps were a concern for me.

While we were not as pleased with this rental as others we have booked through VRBO, the price was reasonable, we were in a great location and Yvonne was very pleasant. The apartment was clean and we had no problems during our stay.

Owner's Response: I'm happy that overall you enjoyed the stay. As you stated, "downsides" that you mention are all revealed in the description. I always give full disclosure so that the guests who stay here are happy. I have even deleted some pics taken by another site as they made the place look bigger than it actually is. I never want to fool anyone. As to the stove being difficult to use--I do not mention that because it's really not so difficult. You are the first guest who had a problem. But had you asked, I would have been more than happy to show you. Anyhow, as I said, I'm glad that overall you enjoyed your stay. You seem to be a nice lady.

Your own private oasis!

  • 5 of 5

We came to Hollywood for the first time for a gig my husband had on the Sunset Strip. We always look for places to stay where we can relax and truly enjoy. This was a beautiful place! After a couple nights in the city, this place was perfect to come back to, cook a great dinner and enjoy your own private jungle. We even had a potluck one night with Yvonne and her other tenant. She was so friendly, helpful and just a great host! We will not forget this trip! Thank you Yvonne for a fantastic stay, great conversation and the recipe for your sauce!!
