Fun Facts about the French Quarter:
The French Quarter is also known as the 'Vieux Carré' witch means 'Old Square' in French. It has been the center of New Orleans since the city was founded.
The French Quarter area was the first land settled in the New Orleans area because it was the highest elevation available. That elevation saved the Quarter from the devastating flooding caused by Hurricane Katrina.
A fire in 1788 and another in 1794 burned most of the French-built properties, and reconstruction was accomplished under the rule of Spain. To this day, architecture in the Quarter retains a strong Spanish influence.
In the late 1800's and the first half of the 1900's, the Quarter was less fashionable than today and housed many new immigrants drawn by low rents.
The later decades of the 1900's saw a revival of the neighborhood due to historical renovation, the 1984 World's Fair and development of the area for tourism.

I love the location, right behind 'Jackson Square' an easy walk to all the hot spots of the French Quarter.
We went to New Orleans to get together with long time friends and had a fantastic time. We (my husband and I) stayed here, where as the others stayed in their own accomodations. Ours was the best of the three as far a location goes. It is tucked away so there was no noise issues at all. The church bells in the morning were just fantastic and so soothing. The place was very clean and well stocked with towels, toilet paper etc. The music was right outside the door everday and steps away was the small market for anything that you may need. We had a wonderful time and would definately stay again. Cathy was FANTASTIC and extremely friendly and helpful, I wish she was my neighbor!
Best location in the quarter!! I've been to New Orleans several times and this was by far the best place I have ever stayed! When you walk out on to the street you are literally in the best part of New Orleans . The St Louis Cathedral, artists and musicians are right there! The studio is the perfect size for 2 people. Old world charm is the best way to say it! Lewin and Cathy are great! So helpful and quick to respond with any questions. Once Again... I can't say enough about the location!
The studio was as described and perfectly comfortable for a couple. It was more comfortable than any hotel room and the relaxing atmosphere was great to return to after wandering around in the noise and energy of the French Quarter. Being back in a courtyard area really made the studio much quieter than I would have expected. Immediately outside the courtyard is busy and active. It did feel strange entering the courtyard from the street a couple of times when there were musicians or artists seated right next to (or even in front of) the door to the street. However, simply being aware of making sure the door closed completely behind us was sufficient for a feeling of security. (And the individuals seated in front of the door moved without any problems and were actually quite pleasant about it.)
There were a couple small glitches with internet/cable but these were resolved quickly and easily. Cathy was very easy to work with and responsive. Overall, a very good experience which we would do again.
Owners are great, so accommodating and easy to work with. The place is exactly as described, small, charming with everything you need to make your NOLA stay perfect. The location was at the center of everything in the french quarter, but tucked in a courtyard so at night it was peaceful and quiet. I would stay here again and I highly recommend this rental.
We stayed in this condo during the French Quarter Festival and loved it. When looking at the location we were worried it would be loud and hard to sleep but we were wrong! The condo is quiet and tucked back in a locked alley right in the heart of the French Quarter. I felt like a local staying here and I would recommend it to any couple or single person travelling to New Orleans.
From the moment we pulled on to Royal street to unload our luggage, I knew we were in for a real treat. A beautiful iron door leads you down a narrow corridor which opens up to quaint garden court. Once upstairs, and in the studio, you enjoy the beauty of the brick walls and fabulous aged wood floors. This place really makes you fell like a local. If all this is not enough, the location is incredible! One block north and you are on Bourbon. Approx. six blocks east your on Canal and six blocks west your on Esplanade. One block south and your on Decatur at Jackson square. If you know New Orleans like I do, you know the location is ideal. My wife and I will definitely use this place again. Thanks for everything Cathy!
