Christmas in Costa Rica

We had a wonderful week this Christmas in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. We stayed in Ibis Condos, across from the Langosta Beach Club, and LOVED IT. We travel quite a bit with the family and have used VRBO on most of our trips. This trip was absolutely our best experience with VRBO. We felt so cared for by the managers, Bob and Veronica, and the property was absolutely beautiful. Bob answered all of our (MANY) questions prior to arrival, arranged for our tours (which were unbelievable!), bought some basic supplies at our request so we could have breakfast the first morning, and even drove us to the Mercado on our second day to get food for the week. He gave us his cell phone number and told us to call or text with any questions during our stay.
After a very long travel day, we arrived via a taxi that Bob had arranged for us from Liberia airport and were so happy to find a truly luxurious condo awaiting us. The condo was immaculately clean and the beds were large and comfortable. The kitchen was appointed well and had everything we needed to cook for the week. There are three balconies/patios where you can sit out and read or have coffee and watch for monkeys or iguanas. The bathrooms are large and were more than enough for us and our three kids.
Across the road, which is just a small dirt road, is the Langosta Beach Club. We spent every day at the Club and LOVED it. There is a pool, 3 huge poolside cabanas, a fitness room, tiki bar, delicious restaurant, and a gorgeous beach with beach chairs, as well as ample shade for when the afternoon sun gets to be too hot. Maggie and Arno run the Club and are truly gracious and accommodating, and the French-inspired cuisine is out of this world.
Overrall, we would rate our entire experience as "excellent". Costa Rica is so beautiful and the people there are uniformly warm and friendly. The only word of warning is regarding the driving. We had Bob call us taxis - the roads are hazardous and unless you are used to chaotic driving with lots of people/bikes/motorcycles/etc along the sides, don't rent a car. We are used to driving the freeways in Detroit and Chicago, but this kind of driving is very different! Use caution! We hope you enjoy your stay at Ibis Condos. You won't regret it, and like us, will probably still be talking about it weeks after arriving home.
