We have lived in White Rock since 1985 and are local business people. Helga has been a realtor since 1977 and Graeme a travel consultant since 1986. In 2010 our nest became empty so we are sharing our unique setting.
Graeme and Helga Farquharson purchased this house in 1988
Our home backs onto a 26 acre nature park with over three miles of hiking trails and year round streams. Many different species of birds as well as wild rabbits, racoons and squirrels roam the area and frequently visit our feeders. The view is ever changing.
We love to sit and watch the sail boats in the bay or the kite surfers at play. Paddle boards are the latest rage here as well as the kayak school in the evenings. There is always something to see.
Thank you for you hospitality. This suite- so well appointed, open and spacious, cozy and welcoming was just what we needed during the trials of the last week.
Your kindness, baking cookies, card and the loan of your printer, were well beyond expectations of a host. Even Graeme's jokes were some joy in the midst of sadness.
We wish you all the best with your repairs.
These acts of human kindness especially when we are so far away from our own supports made the week bearable
While our native Ontario was in a deep freeze this January and February 2015, we were basking in White Rock's unique climate. We were so fortunate to have discovered Helga & Graeme's attractive, comfortable, well equipped Sea View Hideaway. Perfect location with green grass, majestic trees and buds ready to burst and daily visits from humming birds. View from the large deck included the sea, White Rock pier, Gulf Islands & Mount Baker, at night "magical" with twinkling lights and reflection across the water.
We felt privileged & blessed to have spent two months at this hideaway where our every wish and need was provided by the generous Farquharsons. We look forward to returning in 2016.
We absolutely loved staying here. We walked into a very beautiful and cozy atmosphere all decorated for Christmas. What a thoughtful surprise! Right away we felt at home and knew then that it was going to be a wonderful stay. The sunrise and sunsets were glorious. It is a wonderfully quiet place surrounded by beauty and nature. We travel a lot and are very fussy and picky about where we stay. Helga and Graeme's place more than fit the bill. It was perfect in every way.
The expression of the week was "someone pinch me". We can't believe that we found this jewel in White Rock, BC. The accommodations were immaculate, tastefully decorated and the view was something that we will never forget, we were in awe every day. Graeme and Helga are such gentle, fun loving souls that only want you to have the best time experiencing their town and their little piece of heaven. Helga made us homemade cookies, right out of the oven that lasted a maximum of 10 minutes and Graeme had us continually laughing with his witty comments. What a lovely couple they are. Our family made memories that will last a lifetime.
It was love at first sight! The friendly greeting, the cookies fresh out of the oven, and everything one could need or want was there. Graeme and Helga we thank you!
This rental was absolutely awesome! Sitting on the patio and enjoying the view was so relaxing. The suite was decorated so tastefully and very inviting. The hosts were so accomodating and had added such a welcoming touch with yummy items for breakfasts and snacks. It's a great place to unwind!
We were so impressed by the attention to detail that Helga and Graeme brought to their role as hosts and landlords. They made sure we had everything we needed for our family Christmas at their property. For example, I had assumed we would have to make do without a Christmas tree this year since we were celebrating Christmas away from home. I couldn't believe my eyes when we stepped inside and saw not only a charming little Christmas tree but beautiful Christmas decorations tastefully displayed in the living room and kitchen. They were also very flexible in adapting to our needs when special circumstances arose.
The view from the property is breath taking. Inside, the living room is cosy and comfortable and the kitchen is large and well supplied. We had everything we needed to cook and serve our special Christmas dinners. The apartment is immaculate and we felt very comfortable and welcome. We look forward to returning.
