QUALITY VILLA WITH POOL, PEACEFUL VILLAGE LOCATION, UNINTERRUPTED VIEW

I stayed one week in July 2011 in this idyllic and peaceful setting. The house is very spacious and very neat, the views over the hills very beautiful. The gardens are wonderfully manicured and the private pools are a must after a day of sightseeing.The house is located in the hills where a slight breeze is blowing at all times, keeping us cool and humidity free. It is about 20 minutes south of Heraklion airport. Perfect central location for day trips such as Knossos, Rhethymon, Hania, Hersonissos, Plateau of Lassithi, Malia, Agios Nikolaos and much more. We visited a farmers market in Heraklion and were nicely surprised by the large variety of produce and their inexpensive cost. We bought a kilo of tomatoes for half a Euro!!! The food in Crete is very tasty and one of the healthiest diet in the world! And Jocelyne, the hostess, was very charming and extremely helpful.

I stayed here in the summer of 2009 for a couple of weeks with my significant other and his family. It is a short drive from the Heraklion Airport. This was my first trip to Greece so I did not know what to expect. Upon arriving at Villa Irini, I was happy to find that it were very nice, clean, and safe. There are 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms so there was plenty of room for all of us. The view from our patio was beautiful mountains and vineyards- the perfect place to enjoy drinks and watch the sunsets! The first night we were there we walked to a local restaurant where we sat outside and listened to a live Greek band and drank Ouzo. We spent several days reading and relaxing by our private pool. We also used Irini as our home base taking several day trips. Our day trips included visiting Knossos Palace, hiking the Samaria Gorge, visiting Hersonissos, and visiting the island of Santorini! We also took a ship, departing from the Heraklion Port, for an overnight trip to Athens! Downtown Heraklion has a Bazaar on the weekends and is lively in the evening. The owner was extremely nice and helpful. I recommend staying here if you want to relax, but also be close to many attractions.
