Joanna villa is 170 sq.m, surrounded by a beautiful garden, of which a great part is covered by grass, where you will find a 45 sq.m pool with an integral children’s pool with a Jacuzzi and a barbecue. The villa has two shaded entrances, both of them under stone arches, where you can relax away from the hot sun of the summer midday. The villa has three floors. At the ground floor you will find the living room with the stone walls and the fireplace, the fully equipped kitchen and a wc. On the first floor you will find a twin bedroom with a private balcony overlooking the pool and one double bedroom with a four-poster bed and a private bathroom with toilet and jacuzzi. The same bedroom has o door to a terrace with stairs leading to the pool. On the first floor you will also find a bathroom with toilet and shower room with hydro massage. The entire second floor is a bedroom with a four-poster bed and a veranda with sea view. All bedrooms have TV, AC and closet.

16 km west of Chania, this very fertile corner of Crete, Maleme was famously the setting for the epic Battle of Crete in the last world war. Today the countryside is dominated by sweet smelling orange groves and whispering plantations of tall bamboo which fringe the mile upon mile of almost deserted pebbly beaches, punctuated by the occasional cosmopolitan hotel. Maleme has a good choice of tavernas, and a fairly large supermarket and although the village has undoubtedly grown in recent years, it still retains a pleasingly unsophisticated air and if you explore a little, you'll soon find the local baker and a real Greek butcher's shop. For a little more action the bustling village of Platanias is just under 4km away but if you prefer a slower pace of life and a rather more tranquil atmosphere, there are several sleepy villages located just inland.

  • A deposit of 20% is required to secure the booking. The balance can be paid at your arrival at the villa. Security deposit for damages is not demanded.

Lefteris home dates back to the 18th century. During the German Occupation the house was a hideout for the Cretan rebels. Today it has been restored with respect to tradition and transformed into two adjacent, yet, independent villas: Lefteris Villa and Joanna Villa. Great care has been taken to keep the beauty and aura of its original architecture. The villas are notable for their impressive stone archways and architectural elements of the time hidden in corners and unexpected areas. Each villa has its own high walled courtyard providing complete privacy. The villas are located in the area of Metochi, 700m away from the historic village Maleme and 5min walk away from the beach.

I truly lovely villa, clean, well equiped and wonderfully maintained.
We loved the position, Maleme is pretty quiet which is what we wanted but if you want more life then Platanias, which is only 2km or so down the road, has everything that an party lover could want!
Maleme is well positioned to explore the western side of Crete which is less touristy than central / eastern Crete. Be sure to check out the local villages and their welcoming tavernas!
We would be more than happy to return to this villa.
