Todd and Jackie, the owners are from Holland, Michigan and have been coming to Mackinaw City for years with their family. They have a lovely cottage in Mackinaw City and Todd is a professional builder. They recently purchased 3 more cottages in the MC area and are in the process of renovating them for their friends and family to enjoy.

Diane Moreno purchased this cottage in 2011

It has a great location - walking distance to the Fort, the Lighthouse, the Crossings and the Ferry Docks.

This cottage is very economical and a perfect solution for those guests that want a comfortable stay, the privacy of their own cottage and the ability to prepare meals in the adorable kitchen! You can also relax on the spacious screened-in porch or enjoy a nice campfire.

GREAT COTTAGE, LOCATION AND VALUE FOR MONEY

  • 5 of 5
We really loved this small but perfect cottage in Mackinaw City. The owners had clearly spent a great deal of time and attention in refurbishing this cottage which fitted the bill for our short stay in Mackinaw City. We would highly recommend this cottage for couples looking to explore the area - including Mackinac Island and Petoskey. It was a great base for us and would definitely recommend this to any friends and family heading to the area in future.

FANTASTIC COTTAGE!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and our one year old stayed here for a week. We had a wonderful experience! The cottage exceeded all of my expectations. The owner happened to be staying up there at another cottage when we got there. It was a pleasure meeting the family. They were so friendly and attentive. Your can tell they really want to make sure you have a nice stay. The screened in porch is huge and adds tons of living space to the cottage. Everything was so clean and so nice. We couldn't believe everything that was supplied at the cottage right down to the firewood. The inside of the cottage was also roomy. I never felt like it was too cramped for the three of us. The set up worked really well and it is decorated so nice. You have plenty of room to move around. The kitchen was also fully stocked with everything you would ever need. You are also just a short walk from downtown and the ferries. I would definitely stay here again. This was SO much nicer than staying in a hotel. I highly recommend it for anyone, but it was especially nice if you have any kids or enjoy sitting by a campfire!

NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED

  • 2 of 5
This property has a lot going for it. It is within easy walking distance of the ferry terminal, the historic downtown area, the lighthouse and Fort Michilimackinac. The units are tastefully decorated and full of all the comforts of home. My husband and I were looking forward to our stay, unfortunately things just didn't go smoothly. First, we had to contact the management company as we arrived for the access code. Then after we did get the code there was confusion about which unit we were in (there are 3 different units on the property). Next the plumbing backed up and flooded the bathroom at about 9:30-10pm. After going next door to obtain a plunger, we proceeded to attempt to clear the blockage to no avail. The management company graciously moved us into a different unit at that point (luckily another unit was available). However, plumbing issues of a less serious nature continued to plague us at the new unit. We finally got to bed sometime after 11pm. The next day we explored Mackinac Island while the plumber tried to resolve the plumbing issues. It turned out that the problem was in the city's sewer lines and the city resolved the issue the following day. Additionally, there were carpenter ants in the unit which the management company was in the process of treating. All the problems with the rental affected our ability to fully enjoy our time in the area.

AWESOME COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5
This is the first time my husband and I booked a cottage online and let me tell you this experience could not have turned out better. Diane was extremely helpful and was available if needed any time. The cottage was clean and well maintained and had everything needed for a wonderful vacation. The location was perfect. The photographs were exactly how the cottage was in person. I have already recommended this cottage to several people and I have forwarded my own photos to them. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer. We plan on returning.

THE LITTLE CHARMER

  • 5 of 5
We had a very relaxing and enjoyable visit. We were able to meet our daughter's future in-laws and spend some time with them, going to the island and an enjoyable evening out. We were able to have them back to the cabin to continue our visit. The porch area worked well for this and everyone thought the cabin was lovely. The time just went too fast! Hope to get back again some day, thanks for sharing it with us! You did a great job on the remodeling of the cabin!

AWESOME MACKINAW CITY COTTAGE!

  • 5 of 5
The cabin was wonderful!! It was exactly as pictured on the web. Everything was clean, neat and in good working order. The owner was there when we arrived and made us feel very welcome. He has done a fantastic job of renovating the property without loosing the "cabin" feel. We loved the screened-in porch as it allowed us to be outside without the worry of bugs.

The location was perfect! Quiet and relaxing but close enough to walk everywhere. We are a family of four - two adults and two kids (20 and 16). We walked to downtown, the boat docks, Fort Michilimackinac and the Lake Michigan shore to watch the sunset behind the Bridge. Darrow's restaurant is just 2 blocks away and they have awesome pie!!! Mama Mia's Pizzeria made the best pizza we have ever had.

We took a day trip to Tahquamenon Falls, absolutely worth the hour drive! They were beautiful and the path to the falls is handicapped accessible. We also took the ferry to Mackinaw Island and had a great day - would recommend the The Chuck Wagon Café for lunch.

Diane was very helpful when booking the cabin, she answered all of our questions promptly and made some good suggestions (like getting groceries in St. Ignace - the prices are much better there).

We look forward to returning next summer!
