LOVELY SETTING AND EXCELLENT BACK UP

  • 4 of 5
We loved the setting of this villa. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and yet the proximity of the facilities in the pretty village of Postire. We had no problems at all with the short walk from the road to the villa. The terraces were really lovely and it was great for us having the outside stairs up to the studio falt which gave us lots of space.
The service from Dalmation Management was simply excellent. Really helpful advice beforehand and when a couple of snags occurred (we managed to fuse the electrics!) the help was great - a handyman seemed to be on call at short notice.
We echo the need for more sun loungers to relax in - there was only one when we went as the other was broken. The inside was very well equipped - we would have liked a cafetiere but there was an express coffee jug. The sofa was basic and not sure it would have seated 4 but we didnt need it as we spent all our time outside on the terrace. We loved exploring the island, the stunning sea and exploring Split.
It really would have helped to have some basic info in the village - for future guests there is a supermarket in the village which was open long hours including on Sundays when we were there in August. It is just beyond the first hotel - turn right to the market car park and supermarket. The nerest beach is beyond Hotel Pastura - or access it via the far end of the raod the villa is on - but we preferred the beaches the other end of the village, Worth driving to the sandy beach. The restaurant ner the clothes shop was our favourite and there is an ATM. A truly lovely holiday if very hot in August.

VILLA PALMA, POSTIRA, BRAC.COMFORTABLE VILLA

  • 4 of 5
The villa is 150 metres to beach and restaurants (through pathways not main road) this would only be a problem if you were unsteady on your legs. The pathway from the road to the villa was not a problem as mentioned in previous review, the owners have thoughtfully provided torches, although we didn't need them as the pathway was adequately lit.
The villa itself was very nice, with two patio's, one gets the sun all day and the other is shaded, very nice for having breakfast out of the full heat of the sun. The upstairs apartment is very well thought out, also very handy if you need a bit of space, you dont feel as though you are all on top of each other. We thought that it would be very useful to have a few instructions for the appliances though(ie washing machine etc). Also a few more sunloungers on the upstairs patio as two is not really enough for a villa that sleeps six.
We found some fabulous restaurants, in particular the first restaurant on the corner of the village in Postira opposite the butchers and , the owner/waitress speaks very good English (as do most locals) she is very helpful and friendly and the food is fantastic, all very reasonably priced.Another couple of wonderful restaurants are in the tiny Village of Dol, approx 2kms away, they are both agritourism restaurants which means all food locally produced and reared. The first one you would arrive at from Postira is run by Tony (I think it is called Konoba Tony) , he is very obliging and the food very good although slightly expensive, the next one is called Konoba Stori Gusti this is the place to go for a fabulous evening, it is run by Marijo and family, he speaks good English, is very welcoming and friendly (he will give you a walnut grappa on arrival which is lovely) the food is absolutely delicious, especially the Lamb from the spit. We enjoyed it so much we went there two nights running.
Postira is a beautiful peaceful friendly village. The surrounding beaches are also stunning with extremely clean water, however take beach shoes as the beaches tend to be pebbly.Cannot praise this Island enough.
Also a special thank you to Branca and colleagues at Dalmatian properties in Supetar, they made the booking easy and offered unbiased advice on the most suitable accommodation for our party. It was a very relaxed holiday from start to finish, we really did not want to come home!!!
For stunning views, villages, beaches ,cleanliness friendly people Brac is the place to be, we WILL return

FAR FROM THE SEA AND HARD CLIMB UP BACK TO THE HOU

  • 3 of 5
The house is nice and the roof attach room-apartment is nice idea. Pitty that they are not connected.
The place is tranquil and nice, but far away from the town and the beach and then to make it worse you have to climb. There is no possibility to get to the house be car. the little path to the house looks and feels much abandon and at night it is very dark.

Owner's Response: We are happy the guest liked the house but are confused at their impressions of its location - the beach is just 150m away (a 3 minutes walk) and the town 300m away. Sadly it was an unusually very rainy week during their stay so perhaps travelling by car to places made them seem further than they are on foot. Yes it is downhill to the beach (and uphill on the way back) and this is true for most properties on the islands since the Dalmatian islands are hilly and even mountainous in places and almost all the seaside towns have hills down to the beaches. The street for parking is 30m from the house and walking access to the house is along a quaint pedestrian path between the house gardens that we feel adds greatly to the charm of the house since no cars pass by and so the house and garden are very private and secluded as a result. But we appreciate their comments about walking back after dark and we will install adequate torches for guest use, usually neighbours lights are on so would provide lighting but we will recommend all future guests leave the outdoor lights to the house on when leaving for an evening out

Car: not necessary

Postira is a small town situated in the northern part of the island, 12km from Supetar where the car ferries arrive. The well indented shoreline with its numerous bays makes it very attractive to tourists and locals alike. The beaches are mostly pebbles though the nearby sandy beach of Lovrecina Bay is just 2km away and makes for a great day out with its beach cafe/ restaurant. Postira has an old core in the centre with mosaic tiled streets, narrow lanes, up hills and down hills, detached old houses and hidden gateways.... Pleasure boats go from here to the Cetina River on the mainland for rafting excursions, a very enjoyable day out
