Photos and Description of the Cross Village vacation cottage rental
Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

If you desire a place to reconnect with your family, friends and nature, this is the place for you. Quiet and secluded, Pago Tchi Gashag (Pago) welcomes you to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings, glowing sunsets, peaceful treetops, and shimmering lake.

Private Lake Michigan shoreside retreat, with panoramic views of Lake Michigan, Waugochance to Beaver Chain of Islands, and four twinkling lighthouses. A few steps down to the beach. Pago, built by the founders of Nubs Nob, is lovingly cared for and updated by it's current owners. Two wood burning stone fireplaces, floor to ceiling windows over the shore, lakeside dining area, cozy seating areas, two spacious bedrooms, plus a daybed area, two full baths, laundry room and rec area. Kitchen is perfect for meal prep, or takeout at the Good Hart store deli or Cross Village restaurants. Al fresco dining on one of Pago's patios or on the deck is always an option.

Watch an occasional eagle fly by on the lake side or the hummingbirds at the feeder on the inland side. Walk the beach for miles in either direction. Relax at days end with a beach fire as you watch for lit up freighters in the shipping lanes. If you are a bicyclist, M 119 right off the driveway, is a favorite of many riders.

Cross Village is one-point-two miles down the road with Three Pines Art Gallery, Legs Inn restaurant and bar, and a convenience store/deli/gas station. Twenty minutes to the north is Mackinac Island and its amenities to choose from. Twenty minutes to the south is the Harbor Springs area with Boyne Highlands and other golf courses to choose from. For those who enjoy shopping there is the Petoskey Gaslight district or the boutiques in downtown Harbor Springs.

A stop at a local bait shop will help you locate the hot fishing spots among the many surrounding inland lakes and Lake Michigan. Many local marinas rent motorboats or kayaks if you choose to be on the water for a day.

Ideal for families or couples.

About The Owner

We were entrusted with the care of Pago in 1998. The adventure in renovating and renting began immediately. Our children have grown up while helping with the care and keeping of Pago. Family and friends have been wonderful in offering advice and support. Through the years we have been blessed to have had many wonderful people as our guests, some we now consider friends, as they have returned many summers. While renovating Pago we have tried to stay true to the spirit in which Pago was intended. It is a place to realize the beauty that surrounds us, to enjoy the outdoors, a cure for 'nature deficit disorder.' We live in the Petoskey area (40 minutes away) and are easily accesible should our guests have any questions or needs. We have actively tried to improve the Pago experiance every year by renovating and listening to our guests suggestions. Having grown up in the immediate area we are able to offer our guests the 'locals' insight on some of the areas attractions and services available. We prefer to talk with potential guests before we agree on the contract. In talking, person to person, with our guests, we feel we can honestly answer questions they may have. However, we hope our guests will be honest in how they present themselves also. We understand that Pago may not be what some are looking for. Vacations are precious time, to be spent with those you love, if Pago is not the right fit, it is better for all to decide that early on. Our goal is for all of our guests to have an enjoyable and relaxing stay at Pago. Please feel free to give us a call if you are interested in renting Pago so that we may answer any questions you might have.

Why The Owner chose Cross Village

If you are looking for privacy, and to get away from it all, this is the place for you. Should you choose to explore the surrounding area there are many attractions within 20-30 minutes driving time. Pago allows for an intimate get-a-way or time to reconnect with your family without the daily intrusions.

What makes this cottage unique

Lake Michigan plays a starring role at Pago. The cottage is very unassuming when you drive up to it. However when you step inside and see the view thru the row of windows overlooking the lake it changes everything. Wood floors and the fieldstone fireplace upstairs give it the'Up North' feeling. Downstairs the tile floors and stone fireplace help it feel clean and cozy. Outside, the beach, dunes and lake are constantly changing. We have tried to allow for many options to enjoy various outdoor locations. There are chairs and tables for your use outside. They are lightweight so that you may take advantage of moving them to where you are most comfortable.

This home has an absolutely perfect setting.. it is private, quiet, miles of beach, breathtaking sunsets. The cottage is extremely clean and comfortable. The surrounding area has many, many activities if one wants, from visits to the Straits, to Harbor Springs, to hiking, etc. The road, Tunnel of Trees, which the home is situated on, is beautiful and designated a Heritage Route. The owners are very helpful and easy to contact. They are prompt with any question or request. All in all, this property is a wonderful place.
