Create memories that will last forever. Go beyond the motel/hotel, lakeshore home type vacation. Islands are unique offering privacy and seclusion. Your own 6 acre playground. Isn't that what you are looking for?
The Island Difference.
You can rent larger homes on shore for the same or less money than staying at Eagle Island, so why should you rent Eagle Island?
The private island vacation experience is totally different from renting an onshore property. There is a sense of getting away, a sense of serenity, a different sense of time. On most vacations, the onshore vacation rental is a 'base camp' for going to and from activities and events.
On Eagle Island, the island itself is the destination, the focal point of activities and events.
With an onshore rental, you have great freedom inside the property, but outside you are restricted by neighbors and lot lines. On Eagle Island, you have freedom inside the cabins and outside – six acres and 3100 feet of lake frontage.
While eagles and deer are common in the Eagle River area, nothing compares with having an eagle’s nest so close that you can see them nest, hunt and play. Eagle Island has had nesting eagles for decades. Unforgettable!
Eagle Island also has deer on the property. This year a doe and two fawns share the island with us. You can often see them feeding or drinking right outside.
Eagle Island is a totally different experience. Your children will never forget exploring, playing, fishing, swimming and boating off their own private island. This is why Eagle Island is so special.
There are also two rentable homes on Eagle Island:
1. a Boathouse in the lake (called a “boathouse over water”, most boathouses are on the shore), which is remodeled as a studio apartment.
2. a Log Cabin which has been remodeled and is a two bedroom cabin with a beautiful deck, and eagles for neighbors.
The homes are rented separately.
We have totally remodeled the log cabin with a new roof, windows, floor, kitchen, well and septic system, deck, wiring and heating system. It is four seasons ready, totally equipped and comfortable. The cabin sleeps 6+. We have satellite TV in this fully furnished home. You just need to bring your towels, trunks and fishing gear.
If the Boathouse is also rented, it must be to the same party who needs additional space. Both properties are small with a sleeping capacity of 6 in the log cabin and 4 in the boathouse.
Deerskin Lake is a quiet spring fed lake of about 320 acres. It is partially in the beautiful Nicolet National Forest. The lake is very swimmable off your boat or at the three beaches on the island. The island is about 1500 feet from the shoreline or about a 3-5 minute boat ride. Deerskin Lake is great for fishing, boating and water skiing. The famous Eagle River Chain of Lakes has public landing less than 1 mile away for those interested in extended water travel on 28 connected lakes.
Boat/ Transportation Policy:
Upon arrival we will meet the guests at the shoreline landing and boat them to the island, where they will be oriented to the homes and the property. After orientation, we will leave.
Guests have three choices for transportation and boat usage while they are guest at Eagle Island.
1. No boat usage:
Guests will be transported to and from Eagle Island at the beginning and end of their stay at no charge. Guests will stay on Eagle Island for their entire stay, or guests use their own boat for all transportation.
2. Ala carte boat usage:
Guests will initially be transported to Eagle Island at the beginning and end of their stay at no charge. Each requested trip in/out is $10 for the first trip of each day of their stay, and $25 for each additional trip that day.
3. Boat rental:
Guests may rent our pontoon boat at $100/day. Please check local boat rental options at Boat Sport, Heckels, The Toy Store and others for options and rates. We are generally considerably cheaper.
Eagle Island has been the home to pairs of eagle for decades. They live in a large nest next to the log cabin. Their nest is about 8 feet wide and weighs about 1000 pounds. They have babies in the spring – usually 1 or 2. Guests will see them around the island and the lake as they hunt and hang out. Their squeal is unique and very recognizable. They are protected and must, by law, not be disturbed.
We also have deer visit us. Now a doe and her 2 fawns are guests.
Island Living and Concierge Services:
Being apart and having seclusion and privacy are some of the priceless features of island living. However, we recognize that anything that gets out to the island is carried and transported there. Sometimes, it can be a hassel.
We would be glad to offer our Guests a concierge service, where we would shop for you and bring the items to your cabin. The refrigerator could be full when you arrive, or we could bring out things during the course of your stay. You do not have to leave the island if you do not want to. We try to give you the best of island living without most of the hassels. We charge $25 per shopping trip.
Eagle Island is not available for fraternity parties, bachelor (bachelorette) parties, concerts or large gatherings unless otherwise approved (there have been weddings on the island). The island is best enjoyed by families or groups of families who want great accommodations, fishing, boating, swimming and privacy together.
Eagle River is about 6 miles away, Rhinelander and Minocqua are an easy drive and fun day trip. You have both the seclusion and privacy of the island and the “bright lights” of the city very close.
Parking is available for 20 vehicles on our shoreline lot.
Additional information and pictures available.
The Meiers own Eagle Island and rent it to 'select' guests who will treat the island, the wildlife, the eagles, our property and our neighbors with respect. We look for guests who will 'leave it as they found it' - no 'Animal House' types need apply.
We have improved the homes on the island for our family and friends. Now we are renting to guests who can enjoy what Eagle Island has to offer.
We are available to help you have a great vacation that you will never forget.
Renting an island for a vacation is like no other kind of vacation. Eagle Island offers superior recreational activities, privacy and seclusion, proximity to the services of Eagle River all on a parcel that is unique and will create lifelong memories of your stay there.
