Adele McLean purchased this house in 2012
We love the ocean views this property has as well as the proximity to the pier and great restaurants including Freddie's Italian. Kure beach is very laid back and friendly!
We love the spaciousness of the house and the room configuration which allows large crowds to have their own space. we also love the hardwood floors and granite kitchen counters!
Great location! We all had an amazing weekend. Perfect spot to get away from it all. Thanks for allowing us to use your home.
My extended family has been going to Kure Beach for over 30 years, and as the family has grown we've needed to rent additional cottages to make room for everyone. We've stayed at Worth the Wave each of the past 2 summers and are booked again for summer of 2015. We have 2 families plus one adult staying in the house very comfortably (5 adults, 5 kids).
The cottage feels new and is in great shape; we love the large kitchen/family room which has become a gathering spot in evenings after kids are in bed. The porches facing the ocean have great views, and the one on the back of the house is perfect for outdoor dining. The bikes, beach chairs and toys are a nice plus. We also appreciate the DVR because we like to record Wimbledon (tennis!) in the morning and watch later that evening.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone -- just not the week we need it!!
We stayed in Kure for the first time this summer at Worth the Wave. It was exactly what we needed with teenagers. We had plenty of room, and were able to have nice family dinners outside on the deck. It was so nice to have bikes, a grill, a wagon, and plenty of chairs and sand toys for the little ones. We were able to have drinks and coffee on the deck and balconies and see and hear the ocean. We had a blast going to Southport on the ferry, watching fireworks at the boardwalk, crab hunting by the pier, karaoke at Vinnie's, and eating dozens of Britt's doughnuts! The owners are wonderful people to work with, and I've already reserved my spot for next year. We LOVED it!
Never have visited Kure Beach or this property so wasn't sure what to expect. Kure Beach is a nice quiet beach and the location was perfect. Away from all the commercial strips and a nice beach community. Easy walk to the beach. Carolina Beach just north offers some more "excitement" (bars, resaturants, amusement park and entertainment) and is a very short drive. The house has been kept up very well and has been updated and decorated tastefully. Good layout for family fun!
Hightlights: Michael's Seafood was terrific and the Thursday night concert and fireworks at Carolina Beach were excellent. We found a little Pub & Beer Garden in Carolina Beach that was very special - it was call HopsLite. They had great food and a warm friendly atmosphere. We had a very special vacation and would highly recommend this vacation property and beach to everyone!
Our family, 8 adults and 4 children, ages 10, 6, 4 and 20 months plus our toy poodle spent a week at "Worth the Wave", and it was EVERYTHING advertised and more! We had previewed the property in March during an earlier visit to NC and the owners were there and couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. AS well as the wonderful caretaking team that helped us all the way.
Each family had a comfortable bedroom and a generous size private bath with plenty of hot water all week. The photos are well representative of the rooms. The children were comfortable in the twin beds and pull out sofa bed downstairs. The three levels made it a perfect arrangement for us. The parents would send the kids down to our suite on the bottom level for early morning with Grandpa and Grandma. The owners purchased safety gates for the stairs to protect our little toddler guys! They were so wonderful to work with. The beach access is so close we had no trouble walking our toddlers and carrying our beach equipment over. Takes about 2 minutes. The outdoor shower worked great to keep sand out of the house which was sparkling clean when we got there. We ate in most meals because of the little ones and had everything we needed to cook with in the kitchen.
The first few days were rainy so we went to the Aquarium which was AWESOME!!! This was a great "first" family vacation for us and it was such a success! We also recommend "Beach Portraits", photography by John Gregory. They took a beach picture of the whole family that turned out wonderful. Thanks to "Worth the Wave" owners and caretakers! We will definitely be back when we can!
Our second stay at Worth the Wave. The walk to beach is short and access is excellent. The wagon provided is useful in hauling our massive load to the beach, however larger wheels would be helpful :). The home is beautiful and offers plenty of space for our extended family. The kitchen is great for families that cook. We really liked the keyless entry, no keeping up with keys. The owner was great to work with and we're looking forward to another stay next summer!
We had a wonderful time at Worth the Wave. The house was clean and better than we could have imagined. Kure beach is peaceful and just a sort walk from Carolina Beach. We can't wait to return! Everyone was so friendly!!
