Elounda is situated on the north-east coast of of Crete in the Mirabello Bay,
65 kilometres from Iraklion - 50 mins by taxi.
Elounda is a large Cretan village, its main square
is the center of resort life, lined with a wide variety of shops, tavernas
and bars looking out onto the harbour. Roads from the square lead out to
the fish tavernas of neighbouring Plaka or the bustling streets of Aghios
Nicolaos, 10km away. Just beyond the square there's a sandy beach which is regularly awarded the
Blue Flag.
The Olive Grove is situated very centrally near the church, 2 mins walk
from the square and beach but secluded enough to be in a calm and peaceful
location.
You can take relaxing strolls through the old villages surrounding Elounda and see the amazing scenery also there are boat trips daily to Spinalonga . This is an island just of the coast of Plaka which was once a Venetian Fortress and later a leper colony, most recently the inspiration for the book 'the Island'.
