Ano Tyros is the highest of the 3 sections of Tyros. Passing down through Mesa Tyros brings one to Paralia Tyros by the sea, with various shops, cafes, restaurants, supermarkets and a Bank & Post Office.
South from Tyros the road leads past a choice of beaches, the village of Livadi and on into Leonidio (the area's capital) with its narrow streets and distinctive stone mansions. 5 minutes away is Plaka, the yacht marina & beaches, cafes and restaurants
Beyond Leonidio, roads wind up to mountain villages, passing monasteries which cling to sheer rock faces. North from Tyros are the towns of Astros with sea sports facilities, Argos & Mycenae, the first capital of modern Greece, Nafplion, with its dominant Venetian fortifications known locally as Palamidi, as well as the archaeological sites of Tiryns and Epidaurus etc.
