Photos and Description of the Pilos vacation house rental Pretty house in lovely countryside, sleeps 6-10, overlooking Navarino Bay

A spacious 7 year old house in a small hilltop village. On the ground floor are 2 double bedrooms opening onto a terrace, and a bathroom. Upstairs is a large airy kitchen/dining/living room ( sleeping 2) with wood floor and high vaulted wood ceiling, and a shower room. The kitchen is well-equipped with marble work surfaces and sink, Bosch oven and fridge freezer. Balconies to the front and rear provide beautiful views across olive groves and towards Navarino Bay and the town of Pylos. The gardens are well kept with lawns, shaded terraces and large trees. There is also a large studio room with separate entrance, kitchen area and shower room. It has a double bed, futon sofa bed, and comfortable sitting and dining area. The studio cannot be booked separately from the house, but is available for an extra charge. Pila House is 5 minutes drive from the seaside village of Gialova, with its unspoilt beaches and excellent restaurants, and 10 minutes from the pretty port town of Pylos.

Nearest Ferry: Patras at 200 Kilometres
Nearest Beach: beach at 3.0 Metres

The area of south-west Messinia, untouched by mass tourism and largely undeveloped, is perfect for the independent holidaymaker. Here are olive groves and lush green countryside, forested mountains hiding deep gorges with rivers and waterfalls, and hundreds of kilometres of unspoiled sandy beaches. Nearby is Gialova lagoon, a protected wildlife and bird sanctuary where flamingoes spend the winter, and Voidokilia, one of the best beaches in Europe. Archaeological sites such as ancient Olympia, ancient Messini and the Palace of Nestor are all within reach. The nearest town, Pylos, is a pretty, stylish port with a marina, many good bars, restaurants and shops, 4 banks, a post office and a good health centre. You can enjoy a coffee in the shade of an enormous old plane tree in the charming central platea, visit one the two impressive castles, or take a boat trip to one of the islands. The Mani, around 2 hours drive away, is also well worth a visit.
