Luxury 9 bedroom manor house in the beautiful Eden Valley, Cumbria

Morland Hall is a beautiful and historic venue set in private grounds. Most importantly, when you choose Morland Hall, the properties, grounds and gardens are yours for that extra special holiday.

Built in 1861 as a family residence, the Hall fell into disrepair after the Second World War when it served as a convalescence hospital for wounded soldiers. In 1999 the present owners purchased the roofless property and after careful restoration, Morland Hall has risen from decay to become a beautiful holiday destination with excellent facilities.

It has spacious accommodation and a spectacular staircase, open over two floors. A well-equipped gym and 32-foot open-air pool are available for our guests to use (these facilities are shared with 3 other smaller properties on the estate).

Situated in its own grounds, designated as ancient woodland, Morland Hall is 3/4 mile from Morland Village and 12 miles from the market town of Penrith.

Surrounded by semi-ancient woodland in the glorious rolling countryside of the Eden Valley, Morland Hall is a beautifully prepared mansion house which boasts a Visit Britain 5-Star rating for excellent facilities, superb furnishings and comfort. Built in 1861 the estate fell into disrepair after the Second World War but has now been carefully restored. Morland Hall won the Eden Council, Conservation Design Award in 2007. The Hall has 9 bedrooms and a den which can be used as extra sleeping accommodation. A spacious dining room with yew furniture leads into a comfortable sitting room, both with open fires. A separate library provides solitude. The extremely large kitchen and Aga is a focal point. With the three other houses on the estate. Shorrock House, Torbock House and the Coach House, they share a heated outdoor pool (summer only) and fitness room.. The houses can be booked individually or in any combination to provide accommodation from 8 to 48 persons. A place to remember.

Morland lies In the beautiful Eden Valley; tranquil and peaceful but close to Ullswater and the Pennines for walks and watersports. Nearby is the market town of Appleby in Westmorland, famous for the annual Gypsy Horse Fair. Penrith offers quaint shopping facilities whilst Sharrow Bay provides fine dining. Sports catered for nearby include shooting, sailing, riding, trekking, climbing and many other pursuits.

Perfect for Our Wedding Celebrations

Morland Hall is a beautiful location that proved to be perfect for our wedding celebrations.

We wanted a location that would allow flexibility, so that we could put our own mark on the weekend and avoid a ‘conveyor belt’ or standard ‘package’ approach. And that’s exactly what we got!

Morland Hall felt like a home from home throughout the weekend; some of the children even complimented us on ‘our house!’

All of our guests loved having the ceremony, celebrations and accommodation in one place, especially those with families.

A big thank you to Neil and his team for helping to make our weekend so special.
