The Gregory House is an impressive home of the Queen Anne Victorian style which is considered to be the grandest of the Victorians. The home is centrally located to Southern Maine's best attractions and a terrific reunion spot for families or large groups. It has the feel of a bed and breakfast, with the privacy of your own home. The stunning third floor contains a billiard room with a big screen TV, pool table, bar, and a separate card / game table in a unique round room which helps make sure there's always plenty to do no matter what the weather. The house is close proximity to beaches, amusement parks, movie theaters, etc. It's just 3 miles from Camp Ellis, 3 miles from Old Orchard Beach, 15 miles from Ogunquit, 13 minutes from Portland, 6 miles from Kennebunkport and our central location makes it easy to get to Route 1 and I-95. Our latest improvements allow us to install AC on the third floor level for improved the improved comfort of our guests.
I grew up in Maine, on a farm, not too far from Saco. After college I moved to Boston and started a business, got married and had children. During that time, my yearning for getting back to Maine inspired me to purchase this home. Over the years, many of my family members have lived here, with me and my family visiting often. Since those family members have since married, purchased their own homes, or are just off doing there things, we decided it was time to rent it so others could enjoy it as much as we have! During off-peak times, we still love to visit, often with friends, and enjoy the entertaining spirit of the house.
Noah Smith purchased this house in 1997
This was the first property we saw in our search for a great home in Maine! We fell in love with it right away. There is so much history and character with such a grand home -- all of the beautiful detail!
This is a great home for a large group. The modern, fully equipped kitchen is great for cooking and its breakfast bar even allows for socializing. The parlor is 23 feet long, so its great for big dinners and gatherings. The six nice bedrooms make it easy for people to find just the right spot. And the grandest of all rooms is the 3rd floor "game room" with it floor-to-ceiling headboard, a pool table, a TV, a bar, and even a card table tucked into the turret!
The convenience of the house to restaurants, stores, movie theater, bowling, water parks, amusement park and beaches is wonderful!
This house is unbelievable - it successfully feels like a home while at the same time looking like a museum. The architecture and decor are gorgeous, with nearly all original features and woodwork.
From the well-appointed kitchen to the large grill on the porch; from the incredibly large common areas on the first floor to the many bedrooms on the second/third floors, this house has plenty of room and charm for any group. And the game room on the third floor is breath-taking with the dark wood interior, pool table, and card room.
The location is easy to get to and super-accessible, allowing for walking through down-town Saco, short drive into Biddeford or about a 15-minute drive to Portland. When we stayed there we went to a Sea Dogs game and a night out in Portland and it was very convenient. The beach is not far either!
We found the owners to be very nice and helpful and our group had a wonderful time at this house. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a place that can sleep a good number of people and has a ton of character. And when you figure out what a function hall might cost for a reunion or a block of hotel rooms, this is probably a much better option (at least in my opinion)!
We had an amazing time at the Saco Victorian House. Our 4 families had a great time. The ladies took over the faboulous kitchen, kids kept themselves entertained and the guys enjoyed themselves with the pool and poker table. Rooms were ample and spacious. The only issue we had was no heating on first day but was fixed right away. The house is on a busy street and light comes in to the room at night with no shades. We were disappointed that we could not use the fireplace and it's advertised. Overall would definitely recommend and would recommend. Thank you for the opportunity, we enjoyed your home.
We enjoyed a 5-day stay at the home. Noah was great about being in contact, meeting up, and going over the house. The house was a great fit for our group, which ranged in age from 5 to nearly 80. It was comfortable, clean and fun. We did lots of cooking in the kitchen, and found it to be well-stocked and easy to work in. The only thing I would point out to potential renters is that the house is at a busy intersection and traffic can be very loud. There are a lot of motorcycles and emergency vehicles passing right by the house, day and night. It wasn't a big deal for us, but if you're a light sleeper, you might consider that.
The listing and pictures describing the place were very accurate. Our family had a great time enjoying the clean and neat place, as well as the character of the house. The owner was very flexible and accommodating to our requests. The only concern that we had at times was the traffic noise outside, since it is located right on Route 1 in the center of town. It is only a few minutes from very nice beaches, restaurants, and other attractions. I would go back again on our next trip to Maine.
We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful Victorian home. It had a great updated kitchen well stocked for cooking. It was spacious enough to accommodate several families and offered privacy with two upstairs levels. The downstairs level offered a great space for everyone to be together. The owner was very easy to work with. We had a fantastic stay!
The owner and the house were really great. The house is beautiful and worked great for our family trip to Maine. We have rented this property 2 separate times now and loved it both times. The owner was so kind and helpful it was really a pleasure meeting him and working with him. We look forward to next time.
Thank you so much for making it available.
