Photos and Description of the Douro vacation house rental Four bedroom house part of a wine producing 'Quinta' with great facilities

The house, called Casa de Mata, lies within a large wine producing Quinta (Estate). Surrounded by vines that are used for producing Vinho Verde, it is magnificently located above the River, offering magnificent views over the Douro Valley. Casa de Mata is a spacious four bedroom house situated between vines and woodland. It is a typical example of a stone house from the North of Portugal and has many traditional features. Inside it is furnished in a classical but light style, with attention to detail. All the bedrooms are en suite. Outside there is a large terrace, ideal for eating out. Guests are able to use all the facilities of the Quinta, which are shared with the Manor House, now used for B&B. They include a large swimming pool at the front on a plateau surrounded by vines, and a tennis court hidden at the back. A short walk from the pool is a quaint tower that sits above the valley where you can watch the sunset and admire the stunning views from the comfort of a hammock.

Nearest Train: Ermidos do Sado at 5 Kilometres
Nearest Motorway: Junction 18 of A4 at 25 Kilometres
Nearest Restaurant: Santa Marinha do Zezere at 2 Kilometres

The Quinta is located on the North side of the River Douro just outside the village of Santa Marinha de Zezere. It is one kilometer from the river and a bridge which crosses over to the town of Resende. The views from the Quinta are outstanding, stretching over a large section of the Douro Valley. The Quinta lies on the dividing line between production of Vinho Verde and Port wine, so is an ideal base to discover the viticulture of the area. Peso de Regua is just fifteen minutes away, the gateway to the Port wine denomination. We can offer advice about which estates to visit and even organise wine tasting sessions. Boat trips on the Douro are very interesting and most start in Regua. We also have a jetski which can be rented for use on the river and there are other water sports in the region, such as rafting on the nearby river Paiva. Please note that although a car is essential, a train station is just a few kilometers away, on the line from Porto to the Spanish border.
