Large studio near Ghetto. There is a double bed and two sofa beds so it is very good for a couple (it's quite romantic: there is a wonderful wooden ceiling) and can fit if you have children or if you are travelling with friends.
There is a kitchen with a four-burner stove and a microwave.
The house is small but very well located: 15 minute walks from place San Marco and nearby the 'vaporetti' for Burano, Murano and Lido. It is only 10 minutes walk from the railway station and by train you can visit Padova (30m.), Vicenza (50m), Verona (1,5 h) and Treviso (30m)
It's on ground floor, but of course there are no cars and so it's not noisy. It is not a tourist area and there are several grocer's shops very nearby.
There era air-conditioned and wi-fi.
My g/f and myself spent 5 days in Venice at Marco's apartment... like others have said, it is nicely placed out of the way of all the touristy crowds, yet it is still very accessible by the water buses, and because of the small size of the city, it is still easy to get everywhere. The pictures very accurately show what you are getting.
We were met at the Ghetto by Sara who escorted us to the apartment, and then showed us around it a bit. I had been to Venice once before, so getting around was not so bad (it is still easy to get turned around a little). There were restaurants right around, it was easy to find grocery stores as well.
Overall, things went very well, and we thank Marco for providing a great base for us to explore Venice, Murano, and Burano... Thanks Marco!
Would not hesitate to contact him again if we needed a place to stay in Venice.
This apartment is compact but as a couple we found it ideal. Located in the Ghetto it is away from the busy tourist areas and we felt that we were able to experience the 'real' Venice, sipping our Aperol/Campari spritzers in the many bars in the area while also sampling the delicious Cichetti (little snacks). Eating out locally was a delight with two great restaurants just at the end of the street and lots more to choose from. Local bakers supplied excellent breakfasts.
Marco is so helpful and his personal guide to Venice was far better than any guide book. We walked everywhere and again the apartment was ideally placed close to all transport when we did choose to venture further.
Thanks Marco for a great little place to stay in the most beautiful city in the world. My Mum and I stayed for several nights and were most impressed with the location and convenience of the apartment. Only a few minutes walk to the vaporetto stop and with a great supermarket just around the corner, it was perfect. Very good value for a more budget minded traveller whilst still clean and cheerful. My biggest recommendation is the secret paradise of Mazzorbo, a walk over a footbridge from Burano, but a world away from all the crowds.
We loved this apartment! A fantastic area that was in a more local area, so there were supermarkets and better priced restaurants than in the main tourist areas. Also a lot more peaceful! Morning sun streamed through the shutters each morning, and we had a choice of two canals to eat breakfast by.
Marco was really helpful from the minute I sent our first enquiry, to the very end. He has lots of helpful information in the apartment and books to exchange - many in English!
We had no trouble finding the place as Marco had a friend of his meet us on arrival, and even this guy gave us his number in case we needed anything.
Bed was comfortable, hot showers, good plumbing, sporadic internet but it made us read more and get out so it wasn't an issue.
Highly recommend this place! Comfortable, homely, and you're well looked after.
My friend and I spent 3 days at Marco's studio apartment. We loved it. Marco left us instructions for restaurants, transportation, things to see and do. What I liked best was that we were in a neighborhood (away from the touristy scene) where we interacted with local families. We got a slice of the local life, yet we were only minutes away, either walking or by vaporetto (water boat) to everything. I will stay here again next time I am in Venice.
We stayed 3 nights in this charming apartment and area away from the crowds. The apartment has everything for cooking which we prefer to do. The apartment had plenty of hot water and everything worked well. We slept the best ever! The apartment was next door to a restaurant which surprised us with music one evening! It didn't last long as they traveled to the next place. We had no trouble getting to where we wanted to go and enjoyed all the scenery as we went. Marco was a dear to work with and I feel I have a friend in him although never meeting him once. He gave us great directions and we were met by Danielle whom walked us to our apartment and shown how everything works. We were totally charmed!
