About Karen

We, Karen and Jim, have lived just outside of Seattle for over 40 years. Because we are both still working, we can visit Casa Campanitas only twice a year and did not want to waste our pearl by the sea, so we decided to share its amazing ambiance and location when we are not able to be there.

Why Karen chose Playas Gemelas

Over 15 years renting with 100% glowing reports back....including multiple exclamations of 'the pictures don't do it justice!' We fell in love with Casa Campanitas the minute we walked in the door when looking for a vacation property in 1996 ...the charm of the Old World Architecture, and the location, and the view were unbeatable, a combination we saw in no other properties. Every time we stay, it is better than I remember, even after all these years.

What makes this condo unique

This condo is a true find. Its three bedrooms, at the beach with a spectacular view, open-air, along with the brick and arches Old World Charm are becoming a rarity as high rises and modern condos and hotels take over. Casa Campanitas is definitely a marvelously unique experience.

Regardless of your desired activity level (or lack of one), Puerto Vallarta has something for you. There is a wide variety of things to do, from sedentary to rugged land and water activities in and around Puerto Vallarta, many begin within a short walking distance of Casa Campanitas. If you like sightseeing, stroll along the Malecon north to the square for people watching (a true cultural event on Sundays when the whole family comes to town with children dressed to the nines) artwork-painting and outdoor sculptures, visit Puerto Vallarta's most famous church— Our Lady of Guadalupe, take a trolley ride tour of the city or catch one of the tours to Yalapa or Chico's Paradise where you can wade or swim in a spectacular river, or have lunch and watch others as they body surf the pools and eddies. Depending upon the season, there are neighborhood street events and bazaars with great fun, great food and great people watching. For something requiring less effort, you can relax and enjoy the sweeping view of Puerto Vallarta's Bahia de Banderas and the Mexican Pacific Ocean from your living room, terrace, pool or any of the bedrooms at Casa Campanitas. Whether or not you like bird watching or whale watching, you will enjoy seeing dolphins and whales that winter in the bay as they dive and spout, and observe the pelicans diving for fish or flying overhead with terns, green mealy parrots and other avian creatures. Walk down our steps to the beach to snorkel, swim, and sunbathe, then order drinks or a meal under restaurant palapas— just minutes away on the beach. Parasail, rent a fishing boat or take any of a number of specialized cruises and tours - hiking, biking, snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding, boating, or kayaking- that begin on our beach or just a few minutes walk north at the pier. Visit the botanical gardens by city bus or cab a bit south of town and plan for a river swim and leisurely lunch as part of your day's outing. If you want to shop you can do so on the beach. Vendors stroll the area and offer a wide variety of merchandise. For an even greater selection, walk 10-15 minutes or take a taxi to Old Town Puerto Vallarta where restaurants and shops abound. Plan a romantic evening dining in and watching the Mexico sun go down and evening fireworks, make reservations for an ocean sunset dinner cruise on the Marigalante Spanish galleon, or party 'til the wee hours at any of a number of hotels, bars or restaurants like Puerto Vallarta's La Iguana Restaurant where you can participate in an authentic Mexican fiesta. There are MANY activities and things to do while you are enjoying the warmth and charm of the Mexican people!

Additional information about rental rates

A deposit of 1/2 of the total stay holds your reservation. Balance must be paid 60 days (90 days for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break [March & April] and Easter) prior to arrival or forfeiture of the deposit will occur. A refundable security/damage deposit of $300 is due with the balance of the payment if no damage occurs.

In accordance with Mexican policy regarding liability insurance, the owner has no liability for accidents, death, injury, etc. Individuals need to have their own insurance to cover any and all incidents that could befall them as a result of their stay in Mexico.

We stayed in the condo for a week with four people and loved it. Very clean, nice kitchen with all of the furnishings, shops and restaurants were within easy walking distance, view was phenomenal, open access from living room was a real treat, pool was maintained daily and right outside our door as was the patio that allowed us to gather easily outdoors. We would recommend this unit to anyone as long as you can navigate 45 steps to get down to it. We hope to stay there again someday.

Property is breath taking. Lovely housecleaner comes every morning, keeps everything neat & tidy. Pool is just perfect, cleaned daily. Take binoculars, as there is so much to see from your open window which takes up an entire wall. Take walks around the area, as there is so much to see and lots of fun places to stop for a bite to eat or a nice cold beer. Fusion Gourmet is right down the road, and was a favorite. The waves are loud at night, so you may want ear plugs!!!! I loved it, am hoping to go again....SOON!

AMAZING !!!!!

We fell in love with the Casa at first glance. It had been 20 years since we had a family vacation and we felt like it was all worth the wait. From the open air dinning to the sound of the waves it was an amazing Condo.
We are already talking about going back as we loved it so much. We took a video to show friends and family as we highly recommend this property.
It was easy access to downtown , the shopping and dining were amazing. The view was just breath taking. The only challenge I would say we had was the stairs to beach so good thing we are all in good shape.(121 steps) . The beach was beautiful and we could get snacks and great cold drinks next door. No trouble getting cabs and everything was very reasonably priced(food, drinks and cab fares)
The property manager was very helpful , the maid was great, the property was clean.
We felt very fortunate to have been able to share this condo with our children ....thank you again Diane and Roger

I expected a beautiful place and got so much more! The condo is the best of old Mexican architecture {high brick arches} tile floors...iron grillwork...stained glass...lush gardens, pool outside the door to the terrace and the take your breath away view from any spot in the condo, not to mention the wonderful sound of the crashing waves below, and beautiful swimming!
The owners had a comprehensive booklet which was given before we left Seattle, which gave us a chance to figure out many places of interest...favorite restraunts... plus, how to navigate the changing of $$$$....transportation....local contacts if we had any problems while we were there! nothing was left undone. We had a vacation without worry with total enjoyment...we will be back!

Lovely Mexican getaway

The property at Las Campanitas is so lovely, with its open air appeal and the balmy air of the Pacific ocean all around! The best part was the sound of the crashing waves from the beach directly below and the ability to stay and hang out with all of our needs met (after getting some groceries that is!). The pool and deck area in particular are beautiful and such a luxury. We lived there! The photos on the website surely don't do it justice! We enjoyed interacting with the caretakers, who were helpful, and kept the place immaculate. It's a pretty close walk to some great restaurants either right on the beach or in town, where you can lounge all day, or shop nearby. The food in PV really can't be beat! We had excellent food and outstanding service everywhere we went! June in PV is extremely hot and humid, so the pool and the ceiling fans were critical to our comfort!
